Updates:..09.25.06.... Been a while since an update, but things have been poppin'. As you've noticed in the background, those are clips from the show we did at the Philippine Fiesta this past August. We will be having more shows soon, so keep coming back for more updates, as we will post up the dates for these coming shows as they become finalized! We will be attacking both in full mode with all families involved, and in family mode, where each individual family will hold a show in different capicities.....We've been building somewhat of a notoriety, and we'd like to thank those who have come up to us in different places telling us they like our music and/or shows. =].... Stay tuned!.. ........Biography:.... "When I hear that beat start kicking, I just lose it and spit, I go crazy." .... Captured within the line above from their anthem Go Crazy is the spirit of 5Families, a tight-knit collection of friends and relatives based out of New Jersey specializing in homemade, hip-hop rooted music and visual arts. After performing for different high school and college venues around New Jersey, 5Families brought their unique brand of entertainment to the Bergenfield Filipino Heritage Festival this past May to many good reviews. The group, comprised of fifteen of its many representatives unified with their black t-shirts and white 5F logo, lit up Memorial Park with English and Filipino ballads, hip-hop songs ranging from topics of love to battle rap, and choreographed dance routines. Now focused on the Philippine Fiesta, the largest gathering of Filipinos on the East Coast, 5Families is attempting to bring their innovations to a much larger audience. This looks to be an exciting year for 5Families, with several upcoming album releases as well. ....Although mainly a hip-hop based organization, 5Families creates music for all genres. The musical concepts of hip-hop and R&B are infused into any type of music they create, providing a colorful array of different sounds for all listeners. Their in-house affiliates (or relatives, as they like to be called) create songs and albums using this philosophy, as well as provide instrumentals for others to lease or purchase. In addition, they have the ability to choreograph and perform dance routines; create digital graphics, web design, photography and video, all in-house. It is due to their abilities that they refer to all their creations as homemade. ....Founded in 2003 by core members Cromwel Pestano (MooN ShynE), Gian Bravo (gNyUs), Dwayne Smith (bLaCk CeaZeR), Ton Garcia (ToN TwiStA), and Edgar Cepeda (eL MaYiMbE), the concept of the organization was taken from the 1930s mafia concept of the five New York families that had no official leader. The heads of the families would serve as a board of trustees that would make the decisions for the entire organization. 5Families adapted the concept with each core member as the head of a family, and the core members would make decisions for the organization as a whole. Edgar "eL MaYiMbE" Cepeda has moved on to college, and Christopher "Chino" Quiogue has assumed the position of the 5th core member. This brings the notorious Q-Vision Studios into the 5FaM fold, introducing comedic music and video/film to the melting pot of talent. ....5Families represents a movement in creativity that will only continue to grow.
