About me:

Before I get started with all things Monique... I wanted to take a moment and truly say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I understand you could be anywhere at this moment in time, so the fact that you are here on my personal site, gaining insight about Monique, is something I will hold true and dear to my heart...always. So...now that we are all friends, feel free to call me Mo, Momo or just plain ‘ol Monique. Adrienne happens to be my first name but enough with the formalities and considering we are all now on the "same page".... you can even say “hey girl” if you see me out and about. Alright, here are a few facts about me you may find interesting. Purple is my favorite color; Chicago or Chi Ill (for the cool peeps) is one of my favorite cities. I adore Barcelona, Spain, Buenos Aries and Sydney, Australia. Travel is necessary for me, accompanied by good soulful music with meaning and purpose behind the lyrics. Donny Hathaway, Martin Sexton and Bill Withers are just a few that are in rotation on my life soundtrack. I’m into self-help books and poetry (even though sometimes I’m confused by it). I cry during movies.... I know, I know, but we all know I’m not the only one. I may even cry during Hallmark commercials and the HBO montage and I know you’re asking why...but hey, that’s just Mo. I gush all over babies, respect Alvin Ailey’s Dance Company and the human body fascinates me to no end. Quotes, words, quotable cards and journals hold a place in my heart, and I still have my journal from when I was 10... Moving on, here are some loves of my life followed by some odd tidbits about Mo. Love my amazing Mother, Alfre Woodard, Kimberly Elise, Maya Angelou, Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah, the movie The Color Purple, and the musical The Wiz. Ok...I suck at math, I will fall asleep at any concert and I do mean any! Don’t like big clubs, parties or crowds. I get nervous on the red carpet and sweat buckets like no one’s business! I will wear leg warmers to the grocery store, shorts to a cocktail party and take my shoes off at any chance I may get just because I can. I will stop and silly dance at any moment, hug at any opportunity, dream the day away, cry until I’m all cried out and certainly nap until I can’t fall asleep. In closing, I want to say that I’m not only an actress, activist and role model, but more importantly I’m emotional, sentimental, real and I am human. I want to inspire and reach the masses, while being a part of the solution and not the problem. I want to be healthy not skinny and lead not by words, but rather by example. I strive everyday to be the best self I can be and I want to inspire others to be themselves, love themselves and be kind to all that may walk in their path.
