WE AVOID THE BIBLE! here’s why & here’s help!!

The Bible is the only infallible, authoritative, inspired Word of the One True God. It is a serious error to assume that we can go about our daily lives not reading it at all. Yes its long and yes it can be difficult to understand but the price we pay EVERDAY for NOT reading it is MUCH greater then any initial moments of discomfort you might have upon your attempts to read, understand, retain and use the Word of God.

Of course, it is somewhat difficult and even overwhelming to crack open the bible and just start at page one. We have our jobs our children and our day to day lives so we just can't seem to "squeeze it in". When we do find the time
we can't always comprehend the language used in the stories within the bible so we just kinda breeze through the lines, not really understanding OR retaining anything just so we can temporaily alleviate our own guilt of not reading or gratify our "Do good" nature. Sometimes, just the thought of trying to retain SO MUCH information gets overwhelming...Whatever YOUR reason, ultimately, we just end up not doing it at all. HEY!!!!!! slow dooowwwwnnn! it isn't as difficult as the ENEMY is trying to make you believe it is!!!! May I offer to you a different approach?? :-)
Daily, with the direction of my spiritual leaders, I have made it a priority to spend time in Gods Word. At first, it was REALLY hard for me too... all I kept thinking was "I dont wanna start all the way at the beginning because it
seems so boring and I KNOW the story of Adam and Eve already." or, I would think "This book is SOOOO long... I already know I'm not going to stick to reading a little bit everyday"... Not to mention, for those of us that don't take to well to reading books, the very thought of sitting quiet and trying to stay focused and concentrate can be a MAJOR turn off! All those things considered, this is where I started my bible reading journey:

This website assited in fixing the foundation of my problem: the lack of PASSION to really dig into all the stories and characters of the Word and, even more importantly, the characteristics of GOD/Christ as well as how to live as a godly woman. Of course, http://www.thehopeproject.com most definitely DOES NOT replace reading the word. What it did for me was summed up the general story of "The Bible" in one narrated mini movie. From Introduction to Conclusion, this presentation was visually beautiful and audibly intriguing. It told the major points of the old testament all the way to the new with one major focus: The infectious disease called sin and the sacrifices, throughout time, that had to be given FOR sins commited by man ending with the ULTIMATE sacrifice of Christ.
Alongside of thehopeproject.com, I have used http://www.biblegateway.com to help navagate me through the Word. On Biblegateway's home page, all the way at the bottom there is an option to "LISTEN TO THE BIBLE"... Max McClean is the narrator and THIS very website has guided me DAILY through the word of God (again, for those of us who dread reading, this option is PERFECT!). Max McClean is narrating the New International version. Every book, every scripture, every story, ITS ALL RIGHT THERE!!!
It is not a secret how important it is to STUDY (not just read) the Word of God. We put it off, put it off and put it off and ONLY WE suffer the consequences of NOT studying and retaining what GOD says to do in our daily lives. We live beneath our privelege as Children of the LIVING GOD! We bow down to the temptations of the enemy; fornication, lying, gossipping, homosexuality, gluttony, drunkenness, procrastination, laziness and all other forms of SELF DESTRUCTION in order to ease the day to day pains of life (yes, we our destroying ourselves with the help of the enemies invitations we so readily accept). We sloth around wondering "whats missing from my life" or "why do I fill so unfulfilled and empty". In response to those concerns we turn to television for entertainment, internet browsing for "fun", alcohol for relaxation, yoga and massages for peace of mind, sexual activities for excitement and the occasional dabble of spirituality in aim to "be balanced" as we have come to call it. All that we lack and desire, all that we wish for, dream about and hope for, all that we vision for our lives and the lives of those we love can be found in the Word of God...
Today, take that step to find your peace, relaxation, direction, love, hope and "balance" in the Word of God. Peak your interest to really do something today that MATTERS for a change! and http://www.thehopeproject.com & http://biblegateway.com are great places to start!

I CORINTHIANS 13:1-6 "HOW TO GET A PRAYER ANSWERED!"

thirstyIn my opinion, we are definitely a generation of prayer. Seekers of knowledge, the face of God and the will of God. We pray for healing, we intercede for others. We pray for our government and nations abroad. We pray for our friends, and family and some of us even pray for our enemies. Today, I want to offer a different perspective on prayer. Better yet, I want to offer a different FOUNDATION for your prayer.
When Christ saw the multitudes following Him, seeking healing and forgiveness He was moved by His compassion thus causing Him to heal, teach and forgive the sins of the people. Even unto the cross, what took Jesus there was His LOVE and COMPASSION for human kind. Yes the prophecy of an ultimate
sacrifice for all sins needed to be fulfilled however, it was the very heart and compassion of Jesus that sent Him to that tree. Consider John 3:16; "...For God so LOVED the world that He GAVE His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life!"In referencing a blog from a day or so ago about "the right" prayer; we wonder why our prayers are not being answered? We intercede for our mother's healing and she dies anyway. We prayed for the Lord to keep our children safe in the streets yet they got gunned down despite our prayers. We ask for wisdom, self control and knowledge yet we remain lazy, sloppy, overweight, ignorant and lack the ability to control our flesh. In response to unanswered prayers,many of us throw our hands up, curse God and say "WHY AREN'T YOU ANSWERING ME?!?" or either we get extra spiritual and dont eat for 45 days and walk around speaking in tongues. Our mentality about getting a prayer answered sometimes reflects the concept of digging a hole: the harder I work and dig in, the quicker I'll get to the bottom. This is incorrect...
My friends, gaining the attention of God is much much easier then all of this. In I Corinthians 13:1-3 it says: "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not LOVE, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not LOVE, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,but have not LOVE, I gain nothing. My brothers and sisters, we have learned to specialize in "not loving". The man that hurt you years ago. You dare to say you HATE him.
The boss that is hard on you at work and refuses to give you a raise. You "Can't stand him". That woman at church that you think is "so fake". You and your friends choose to ostracize her and not speak. That man that killed those children on the news, the president of our country... the list goes on and on.Our lack of LOVE is what is stopping our prayers. "...LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. THIS SUMS UP THE ENTIRE LAW!"
(galatians 5:14) ...And this is just ONE scripture that instructs us to "LOVE our neighbors as ourselves" here are a few more: Leviticus 19:18, Matthew 19:19, Matthew 22:39, Mark 12:31, Mark 12:33, Luke 10:27, Romans 13:9, James 2:8... From old to new testament, the importance of LOVE rings out ONE MESSAGE: Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end].LOVE AND COMPASSION for MANKIND is the key to answered prayers... The real love of God moves you beyond yourself and rebukes you when you don't wanna love and moves you to give and not take. GOD DOES NOT NEED YOUR GIFTS HE NEEDS YOU TO LOVE!!!!!

There are many lessons to be learned in the story of Joseph and his rise
determined
to fame in Egypt. Small lessons like activating the fruits of the spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control) even when you're surrounded by your enemies who don't deserve kindness all the way to HUGE lessons like having faith that "...all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." ROMANS 8:28Joseph was a man to be admired for many reasons. My favorite? He had this dream... this vision that God had given him (that all would BOW before him) and, maybe without realizing he was doing this, he kept ahold of what God had shown him. Through the MANY trials he faced he did not retaliate or act out of the character of God. I mean, look at his situation (GENESIS 36-44)!
Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers whom then told his father Jacob
that he had been killed by an animal (his brothers were jealous of him). He began as a slave in Egypt but God was with him. Joseph remained obedient, self controlled, hard working and godly and because of this, he found favor in the sight of his master Potiphar. Potiphar promoted him to his main assistant. Even after this promotion more "negativity" arrived and he was thrown in jail FOR NO REASON (potiphars wife lied on him). Once in jail, the favor of God never left him. Joseph remained godly and right and even found favor in the sight of the warden thus being promoted to be in charge of everything in the jail (even IN JAIL God promoted Joseph). Two of Pharoahs servants were thrown into this same jail. They had two seperate dreams and, through the voice of GOD speaking to Joseph, he interpreted these dreams. Joseph told the servants not to forget about him and to tell Pharoah about his wrong imprisonment so he could get out. Of course, the interpreted dreams came true and the servants went on their way forgetting all about Josephs request.TWO WHOLE YEARS WENT BY and Joseph remained in jail. After these two years had gone by The Pharoah had a dream and no one in the whole entire kingdom could interpret it. This was when the servant remembered Joseph and told the Pharoah about him. ("A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men" PROVERBS 18:16). Joseph stood before Pharoah and interpreted the dream (7 years of abundance in the land followed by 7 years of a horrible famine). God's favor led Joseph all the way from a servant to being the second in lead of Egypt next to Pharoah all because HE LISTENED TO THE VOICE OF GOD AND OBEYED!
When God spoke the interpretation of Pharoahs dream, joseph didnt run off on a tangent and make things up and add things. He told Pharaoh exactly what the Lord had told him and it all came to pass. Pharoah entrusted the whole land of Egypt to Joseph so much so that when the famine came, Josephs brothers came to buy grain from him ("thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies" PSALM 23). When they came, they BOWED before Joseph, not even realizing that it was their younger brother that they sold into slavery.
Joseph, above and beyond being thrown into a well, sold into slavery by his brothers and being wrongly accused and thrown into jail remained faithful to God and in the end, not only did his dream come to life (his brothers bowing before him), it was so much greater then he could have EVER imagined. Today, I want to encourage you all to not allow what is happening around you to dictate what the outcome will be. Through so much, Joseph just remained attentive and obedient unto God! If Joseph never got sold into slavery he would have never met Potiphar which would have not led to his false imprisonment and interpreting pharoahs servants dreams and ultimately, he would have never been chosen to go see Pharoah and interpret a dream that saved the whole land of Egypt from dying off completely!
See how God works? Down can very well be up!
God gave you the vision. He gave you the dream. Granted you are attentive unto His voice and seeking his face and will, Everything is working in your favor!!!!!!!!...no matter what it appears to be.
