“Her flow is just incredible. Her stage presence and her delivery, she just got up there like a class act as if rapping and rhyming was like breathing to her…I think she has an appearance, an appeal. She’s fire.” Camilo Arenivar OutHipHop.com Owner “Philly MC Benni E flows like nobody’s business, dropping powerful, politicized raps and rapid-fire party rhymes over block-rocking beats. Overtly queer and musically adventurous…” EyeWeekly “The Philly native’s bohemian mix of Hip Hop and neo-soul was seamless…She came with a stage comfort that made the audience feel like they were listening to her talk to them as opposed to watching her perform. Benni E. lived up to every claim made by her bravado-filled lyrics and was by far the highlight of the evening. This young lady could probably put most of her male counterparts in the Out Hip-Hop game to shame.” Shelby Powell Planet Ill, Allhiphop.com Since 2008, my performances have taken place in intimate spaces, galleries to crowd pulsing venues and prides in Toronto, Atlanta, LA, and San Francisco. I’ve flown over 5,000 miles around the country in 2009. I touched down in each city to deliver high powered performances and raise awareness of out hip hop artists. –Benni E Welcome to Benni E., a native and Philadelphia based hip hop emcee, spoken word and visual artist. This performer’s first project Microphone Influenza landed in 2008. Her outside the box lyrical style made news wherever she performed. Whether watching her performance or listening to her recordings, you will feel her true emotion all throughout her body of work. Benni E is making music that will make you jump out of your seat and dance, grab a protest sign, cry with your best friend, laugh when you are feeling blue, and so much more. She creatively designs an emotional rollercoaster for her listeners weaving tales about life, sex, politics, art, relationships, feminism, and young people’s struggles, then shows you how to party all of your blues away. Her approach is equal parts party music and socio-political commentary, just like Benni E. She gives life to her work through the work she does in life. From teaching after school programs to past volunteer work with radio station WPEB, to collaborative work with other queer artists, you can find Benni E. striving to help rebuild neighborhoods through music, education, and activism. Benni E. swiftly stole the scene and was invited to open for Kotchy, Yo! Majesty, Glass Candy, Jay D. Clark Band, Natalie Stewart, and other amazing artists. Before she earned these opportunities, she stepped on stage with SGT Sass as a guest emcee. This propelled her into the DJ and production arms of DJ Bunnystyles and Crisco Thunder of Plastic Glamour and Chris McDonald of Duck Duck Studios, with whom she worked hard to create first packaged recordings, entitled Microphone Influenza. After multiple mini tours she is working on a secret project. Scrapping recorded material for The 9th Oz Child to bring out the Benni that has been dying to paint the stage red! You won't know when it's coming. This hyper secretive project is going to jump down your throat and rock your soul! This multi-talented artist’s sound uniquely incorporates touches of old and new school hip hop, electro, jazz, soul, funk, classical, and gospel. The buck will never stop there, as she learns and pushes her creative self. She has a strong appreciation of the past and dedication to the future of new sound. With determination and perseverance, Benni E. plans to continue her message of social change through rhythm and poetry while building and developing a solid and loving music family. • Influences

the poetic artist in me believes my influences are: sounds of emotion in the beat, dark clouds, sun rays bouncing off of shiny faces of ignored and displaced school children, the need for change, dope beats and hot lyrics, emcees with a vocabulary, adventures in suburbia, culture, poverty, middle class syndrome, white collar crime, love, dew drops on country green grass, sex on rainy days, skyscrapers, city life, truth, justice, and the pursuit of happiness **************************************************************** the raw music love that I possess is influenced by KRS 1, Rakim, Nas, Jay Z, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Lil Kim, Remy Ma, Talib Kweli, Hezakiah, Digable Planets, Ursula Rucker, BlackThought, Black Milk, Mahalia Jackson, The Beatles, Hall & Oates, the 60's - 70's (man that sound is amazing, very naked and beautiful)Vivaldi, just to name a few... Keep listening and you'll hear much more than I could ever write for a bio...

Hey Benni E, Your tears evoke a taste as memorable as honey. The sand runes crossing your divided consciousness do speak of contemptuous monsters being slayed by flying phoenixes. I relentlessly desire cotton candy lollipops. If I could have just one wish, it would be to wake up to your songs in the morning. How it passes there and back again like a tear drop glistening in moonlight. The stickers hugging the fruit smell better than the perfume of ambergris. Wood nymphs sprinkle your path with rose petals while you dance and prowl in the sequined moonlight with leftover cupcake sprinkles. How can I help but use your eyes as a means for self-asphyxiation? I find your eyes to be a wondrous amusement park filled with neo-plastic pleasures and turkish delights. I keep searching for you between the cushions. So charmingly silky, your skin is like a teardrop on a popsickle. Your wonderfully bright soul keep the demons from torturing me. Polished rock candy comes ever to mind when thinking of you.
