..Sometimes other DJ’s or people involved with music usually say “I started to love R&B and Hip-Hop (music in general) this year or the other. In my case, I can’t really recall the year I started Loving R&B/Hip-Hop, maybe because in my family house Soul, Blues have been just like a chair or cooker (another piece of furniture) So since in the I was in the belly of my mother the music has been there trough her ears all the way to my brain... ..If I was to name the first song or group I liked, I would say “Get down on It” by Kool and the Gang. I knew this song and group because my older brother used to play it over and over again becoming the first structure of a song that I kept in my memory, because of this I started to sing it even though I didn’t either knew it lyrics or even spoke a single word of English... ..Next thing that happened is that I was sitting in front of the TV memorising all the dance moves from Bobby Brown’s videos such as “Don’t Be Cruel”. Early nineties I was moved to Madrid Spain by my family, I stopped dancing for a while to focus in my studies at the same time I was going to clubs like Stone’s, Aire and others... ..I was recruited by Mr. Fidel Nsue to work as P.R. for Aire (Rios Rosas) and later moved to Macumba (Chamartin). This was a kind of come back to music and one of my DJ life defining moments. After working as P.R. I became one of the 4 key people (Gema, Fidel, Salva and me-Moss-) managing the whole P.R. department, in charge of bringing customers into Macumba’s Sunday evening weekly events. Some of the parties I produced were: “Basket Ball Evening, a competition to find Macumba’s MVP and Another party was “Trial Event” where I brought in some friends that were doing jumps and other tricks with their bicycles; and of course the last party; a “MC’s Jam” in which I put more than 25 Mc’s on the same stage. To name a few: Fran T, SFDK (their first time performing in Madrid), Nash Scratch, etc and hosted by Doble H and all of them here in my space... ..Because of financial problems with artists in this party Macumba and I decide to finish our relationship... ..A good friend adviced me to became a DJ because there would be less problems however I would be dealing with music (my first love). So I bought my first pair of Acoustic Control (cheapest) turn tables and mixer and started to practice by myself with tips given to me by two big names in Madrid’s DJ scene like Dj Jhey and Dj Hom (Jose) while working for Fidel as P.R. at Bash Lagos, later Bash Line. By the end of 1998 the group of people running Bash Line and Fidel started to do promotion in Soul Kitchen (Mesoneros Romano’s, 13) under the name of Sugar Hill... ..DJ Leslie had to go back to New York, so I got proposed to bring in a demo tape mix. After this I was invited to a trial session playing alongside DJ Sobe and Dj Hom (Jose) as I connected with customers I was made resident DJ... ..Few months after our agreement with the owners of the Club went wrong so we had to take the event somewhere else... ..With support from my friend Winston, Domingo, Ga (Gaudencio), myself; Fidel and Sonia found another club called “On”. This is how Sugar Hill became “ON SUGAR HILL” and I was proposed to be the main DJ of the event since DJ Sobe and DJ Hom took their way apart from ours... ..On Saturday night at “On Sugar Hill” I got my break through to Madrid’s R&B/Hip-Hop Dj scene... ..Between 1999 and 2003 I played as Resident for On Sugar Hill on Saturdays, on Tuesdays in Keep while playing as guest dj in Velada, Bash Line (I still playing whenever I’m in Madrid) guest in Hell Dorado and Dulin (Victoria), Cesar’s (Lanzarote -Canary islands-) Moved to London in 2003 to learn English and study some more electronics, I stopped my DJ live for a while to focus again in my studies, even so and because I love music so much I have played (whenever my course and work have allowed me to do so) for the following pubs, clubs and promotors:.. ..Between 2003 to 2008 in the U.K. I have played for Phararell 24 Promotion in Scratch (Woking Surrey) and the Quiak (Farborough) Bar Zuca (Guildford) Acres Bar (Brixton) and Griffe (Peckham).. ..Now I am doing promotions again for Griffe Night Club and I am still playing in Madrid while visiting my family so watch out for my next party near you!!..
