    Two very independent and creative spirits come together in this duo of French pianist Eve Risser and Japanese drummer Yuko Oshima. The donkey monkey is an unpredictable, mischief making creature that sometimes breaks into song and likes to subvert jazz convention, and its especially fond of stride piano grooves and big beats from the Japanese rock scene. Over the last six years, Risser and Oshima have developed an idiosyncratic style that suits their unusual piano/drums set up, recognised at the 2008 La Defense Competition, and this year sees them release a follow up to Ouature, their 2007 debut for Swedish independent label Umlaut. Yuko, issue de la vibrante scène rock japonaise, et Eve, avec ses doigts de pianistes explorant les profondeurs des musiques contemporaines, se sont trouvées en Alsace, et donnèrent naissance à une nouvelle créature: le Donkey Monkey. La puissance sonore de leur collision laisse l'auditeur dans un vaste panorama sonore. Cet animal à huit tentacules et deux voix s'exprime à travers d'intenses compositions timbrales, rythmiques ou encore vocales dont l'écriture laisse une grande ouverture à l'improvisation et au vocabulaire commun mûri par ces deux jeunes musiciennes depuis 6 ans à présent.  Donkey Monkey est lauréat du 3è prix de groupe du Concours International de la Défense 2008 et participé au French Jazz Quarter du Festival de Jazz de Tokyo organisé par Culture France. Après leur premier album parût en 2007, de beaux festivals, et quelques tournées européennes, Yuko et Eve préparent leur deuxième disque accompagné à nouveau de concerts et d'une tournée mondiale. La sortie du disque est prévue pour fin 2010.
