“This is a fantastic discovery, There is something great here” –Record Producer Eric Paul- Willie Nelson, Towns VanZandt, Emmylou Harris, etc.

"Driftwood is a serious force on the Upstate NY music scene. Wrapping together all manner of musics that fall under the "Americana" blanket, combining "holy smokes, didja see that?" instrumentalism with "holy smokes, didja hear that?" lyrics, they're a fast-rising force to be reckoned with!" - Grass Roots Festival of Music and Dance

"Driftwood is a band with a multi-talented blend of musicians who bring traditional American roots music to a whole new level, creating a truly unique sound by blending old time folk with modern and world music". -Kayla MacLachlan-Upstate Live

“Now that’s a band that refuses to be boxed in” –Chris Kocher-Press and Sun Bulletin

  • Bio

In a post-modern world of skyscrapers and handheld computers, Driftwood looks beneath the concrete and circuitry to find their sound. Using acoustic instruments, a scrap wood kick box, clapping hands and stomping feet, Driftwood breaks down barriers between old and young, rockers and folkies alike. Hailing from the post industrial town of Binghamton, NY, Driftwood is one of the brightest new acts to come out of the Upstate music scene. Formed in 2006 by what was first a simple collaboration between two friends bent on traveling the country playing folk music, they have turned into one of the hardest working bands in the business. With traces of early Rock and Roll, Classical, the protest folk of the 60's, American Old Time and the Indie and modern music of today, their palette is complex but the sounds are simple and the messages are sincere. One thing is for sure "There is something great here" says Grammy Award winning record producer Eric Paul (Willie Nelson, Townes Van Zandt, Emmylou Harris). In June of 2009, Driftwood released its first full length recording, a 10 song, self produced LP called "Rally Day". With their first album, steadfast determination and a Mazda B3000 Pick Up they toured extensively and did over 150 shows last year alone! With over 500 total shows at clubs, colleges, festivals and countless street performances they have gained a dedicated fan base throughout New York and New England.
