Bio
.. ......COMING OUT 24 OCTOBER 2006!!! PREORDER TODAY!!...... The Fundamental Mentalities started out as a rap duo, consisting of Schizzow and Wormy, in 2004. As the name would suggest, this duo of rappers hailing from Penang, Malaysia, aims to take rap back to its basics, away from the stereotyped commercial image that rap has become since the dawn of the 21st Century. The Fundamental Mentalities, or FDM, as it is fondly known, made their presence felt in the local rap scene by dropping its self-produced debut EP, entitled, Back2DBasix, barely a month after the group was formed. The EP went on to sell 100 copies in just three days, and it was an immense success for the duo who were virtually unknown in the local rap scene back then. The sales of the EPs had helped FDM in terms of getting their name known, and through word of mouth, a decent number of teenagers in this small island would have heard about them. However, FDM did not maintain as a duo for long. To further escape of the cliche and stereotypical world of the rap scene, the duo decided to recruit more members in to the group, not only to make rap music, but to make music. Rap is no longer regarded as the genre of music this group is into, but Fusion. By fusing the guitar skills of Glacius, the powerful and sweet vocals of Avni and Roosh, the melodious keyboard tunes of Zhu May, together with the lyrical content and rap by Schizzow and Wormy, the FDM hopes to create a sound that people from different walks of life will find liking. Furthermore, the FDM not only binds itself to English tracks, but also experimented with Hokkien rap too, and is working on other different types of lyrical content for their upcoming tracks. From the infamous cult hit, the CLHS Rap Anthem to A Night In The Sky, each track from the FDM is unique in its own special ways. The Fundamental Mentalities is not a band, but it is more towards a project in which a group of musicians collaborate to make good music. The FDM are always on a lookout for talented musicians or vocalists whom they can collaborate with, or recruit into the group, like the most recent addition to the group, Roosh. -
