    .. {}.. .. .. .. ...... Layout by ..CoolChaser.. .. .. ...... .. .. .. .. .. .... ..Greg Morton was born September 21st 1955 in Memphis, Tennessee. He began to play the guitar when he was around 13 years of age. His twin brother, Randal Morton, 1975 NATIONAL BANJO CHAMPION began to play the banjo at about the same time. Influenced then by Glen Campbell, Larry McNeely & John Hartford of The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour. Greg and Randal played various bluegrass festivals around the U.S. in the 70's & 80's. .. Greg's natural musical ability allowed him to quickly develop a mastery of the guitar. While living in Memphis, Greg won the MidSouth Championship in guitar and mandolin in the early 70's.After sharpening his skills playing traditional bluegrass music, Greg began to apply his talents to other musical styles, including countryrock and jazz. Listening to Clarence White, George Benson & Don Felder. .. Greg has toured with several other musicians including Violinist Mark O'Connor and Buck White & The Down Home Folks. Greg backed up his twin brother Randal as he won "The National Banjo Championship" in Winfield Kansas 1975 also the same day backed up Mark O'Connor as he won The National Guitar Championship at Winfield Kansas. Greg & Randal traveled to Europe & The Orient as a member of the USO. In 1979 Greg & Randal joined Earl Hughes a talented multi-instrumentalist and vocalist in Honolulu Hawaii and also special guest of the Don Ho Show in Honolu, Hawaii. Earl Hughes now resides in Fairbanks Alaska and is The Royal Ambassador of Country Music of Alaska. .. Greg's travels eventually brought him to Tucson, Arizona. .. In 1995, Greg Morton won the Arizona State Guitar Championship. In 2001, 2002, and 2004, Greg won the extremely prestigious TAMMIES Award (Tucson Area Music Awards) for Best Acoustic Guitarist. He was runner-up in 2003. Greg's band, the "Greg Morton Trio", won the TAMMIES Award for Best Country & Western Band in 2003, and Best Bluegrass Band in 2004. Greg released his debut CD Solo Guitar in 2004. Greg's 2nd CD Entitled When Pigs Fly was released in September 2008. .. Today, Greg plays in various venues throughout southern Arizona. He also teaches workshops for the aspiring musicians in the region. ..
