If you were to ask anyone who has had the chance to listen to the sounds of this Houston Native,you would most certainly get a wide mixture of positive opinions. From the soulful R&B sounds, lyrical punchline filled raps(slow & fast flow), to his classical and unforgetable song making ability. This rapper, singer, and songwriter is slowly but sure making his way into the nation spotlight and maybe sooner then expected the international spotlight aswell. J'Pen was fortunate to make an appearents on the Album of Gold Record soon to be Platnium Recording artist Dorrough Music featured along side Houston,TX legend SlimThug(Swisha House/BossHoggOutlawz/Interscope/E1Music) with the hit song "Peice and Chain Swangin" were J'PenJail contributed in a major way by harmonizing with auto-tune vocal throughout the song the displaying an unforgetable 4-bar bridge towards the end of the song! The track wasproduce by Atlanta own DJ Montay(Big Oomp Records) Latin Rapper Kriminology, SupaStaar (original composer of hit song "HalleBerry"). Be on the lookout hits by J'Pen produced by 2Much (BlackTeeProductions), George Young, King Blue Beatz,Todd Hamburger, and FM Producer. Why this name? J'PenJail?........."J"Joshua's "Pen" (the handy tool I use to write these hits for myself and other artist, sometimes a no.2 ha!.....put yeah, a pen.) "Jail" I know it sounds kind of hard but the word "Jail" presents the bars that I write in these hooks and verses. Thats what J'PenJail stands for. You know the name if you don't then you'za lame! Do you play live? I perform mostly around the Lone Star State (Houston,Dallas,Austin,SanAntonio,CorpusChristi,ElPaso,etc.) I also fly/drive out to any location in the United States whenever I am invited to come perform or get booked for a show. The money isn't always right but I want A&R's,Record Label Exsecutives, DJ's, and everyday people to hear my songs and love them as much as I do. How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry? Of course it is a better way to market your music. You never know who may listen to your song(s) aswell. You could change lives or your life could be changed even. Would you sign a record contract with a major label? It would definately be a blessing since I work so hard and pray for it as much as I do. Upon graduating from Spring High School in Spring,TX J'Pen joined the U.S. Marines were served 4years active duty(2000-2004). During that time he served a 1year tour in Iraq in 2003 Recieving several awards aswell as an Award For his Actions in Combat during OIF Operation Iraqi Freedom. In the Summer of 2004 while serving in Camp Lejeune ,NC with 2nd Marine Division 2nd Tank Battalion J'Pen was Honorable Discharged from Active to Inactive Duty. He then left to Atlanta, GA to persue his music career.
