  • Bio

K;)T's approach to music is if the music wants to move funk it... Over the years he has experimented in various styles including Reggae, Soul, Jazz, Pop, Hip hop, Electro & house but thinks of himself as a Funk Rock musician. Quote "Having said that, knowing that music is constantly evolving means knowing when to evolve with it but still maintain your artistic principles. Being stuck in one groove for too long can be the death of any artist!" K;)T's First band was with a jam band he refers to as (The Mixed Race) Quoting... " The band was a bridge for vagabonds and misfits from the area looking for an artistic outlet. To start with there's me. My roots are Jamaican mixed with a little chinese, my Grandmother on my fathers side. A little indian, my Grandfather also on my father's side & god knows what else. Our bass player was fresh off the boat from Japan. The guitarist straight out of Italy and a percussionist from the motherland." The band was based in Ladbroke Grove & thrown together by K;)T and bass player Taka Hirose (Feeder) but the band was short lived due to K;)T's lack of commitment, experience and work ethic "My need to party first & work last killed it!" He sighs. He was also frontman for the band created by producer, manager Tim Oriordan (Life's Addiction) albeit very briefly as well as frontman for the band (Amour & Psyche) later simply called (Psyche). "Pat (Patrick Atkinson, Technicolor Hobo) & Matt (Matt Byrne, The Truemen) Approached me while I was ordering drinks in my office (The Paradise Bar, Kensal Green) Now that I think about I have no idea why they did that but we got to talking and made arrangements to meet later that week" The band (Psyche) with a Hard Rock shell, gutsy backbone and a heart of soul was formed in the 90s & was based in Ladbroke Grove, Quote K;)T " When The Grove was still magical and the only place to be." (Psyche) headlined venues such as The Mean Fiddler, The Cobden Club, Sub Club & many many more. After (Psyche) split K;)T became frontman for the band (Kato Tyrrell). Formed by K;)T and Terry Jean-Angle aka Red. A Funk-Rock band with a soulful voice, raw energy, screaming guitars, driving baselines and a horn section reminiscent of that of the (JB's). The Band, based in Paris played the Parisienne circuit, clubs such as Café De La Danse, Le Baiser Salé, MCM Café La Java and others for a number of years before separating due to difference's in it's musical directions. A new chapter begins & K;)T is working on a new project... " It seems I might have come full circle! I have a couple of interesting projects taking shape right now & I don't really want to get into specifics at this point but one of the projects includes my working with one of my very first band members. We're playing around with ideas just for the pleasure & seeing where it takes us. So far it sounds good & it feels good & I'm happy to see where it may take us. But it's early days & if there's one thing I've learned on my musical journey it's that everything can change in an instant and we must be willing to accept when that happens so that we can move on."
