June 9, 2009 - Seattle - KJ Sawka has announced the worldwide release of DrumBanger, a simulation of his half-electronic drum set that gives fans a way to remix and sequence Sawka's music from their iPhones and iPod Touches. Loaded with cd-quality samples of KJ Sawka's live drums and massive synth sounds, DrumBanger puts the user behind the drums to deconstruct and then reassemble the music into a new creation. DrumBanger represents a new way to consume and enjoy music: not just by listening to it, but by simultaneously teaming up with the artist to create it.
DrumBanger Puts Fans in the Cockpit of Sawka's Drum 'n Bass Machine
"DrumBanger gives the audience a chance to create music the way I do," said Sawka. "Writing and performing music is my life passion, and DrumBanger is my gift to the world in our modern, computer phone times. Now you can be involved in the music making process and get an idea of how beats are made and loops are played from a different point of view... the drum throne." DrumBanger users touch and rub different instruments and devices in Sawka's drum set to compose sounds, and can then arrange intros, verses, refrains, and outros using the Sawkquencer - a specialized music sequencer.
DrumBanger is based on the GroovWare music remix platform, from Seattle-based developer General UI. GroovWare will bring a series of artist-branded apps that, like DrumBanger, will allow fans to listen to and reshape the artist's music. "We're looking forward to launching a whole new category of applications, in partnership with major artists, that will make mobile music an experience of creativity, not just consumption," said General UI manager Jason Thane.

D&B
in South America: Everyone knows about drum & bass in Brazil - DJ
Marky and his chums helped to put South America's largest country well
and truly on the map thanks to a golden period at the end of the last
century. A decade on, the rest of the continent has also been bitten by
the bug and Knowledge has been finding out what all the fuss is about
in one of the scene's newest frontiers.
Friction: Throwing a
sharp shuriken into the neck of the music industry in the form of his
new solo mix series entitled 'Assassin', DJ Friction is on a stealth
mission to infiltrate your stereo and slice your cerebral with a deadly
arsenal of music.
Suv: You no doubt know DJ Suv from his time in
Full Cycle and Reprazent but Suv has been doing his own thing off the
beaten track for a few years now. We visit him at his home in Spain to
find out what's he's been up to recently and what he's got in store for
us...
UNCZ: As anyone who heard Dizzee Rascal's special
appearance on London's Kool FM back in November 2007 will testify, UNCZ
certainly live up to their name. Featuring the considerable vocal
talents of Skibadee, Fun and Harry Shotta and the DJ / production
skills of Ruffstuff, the foursome have been creating quite a stir in
drum and bass circles since then. We caught up with them to hear their
plans for world domination.
Resound: With Finish producer / DJ
/ artist Resound taking a much needed break from his studio to visit
the UK, Knowledge figured it would be rude not to hang out with him and
have a few beers.
Exile: Exile is arguably the most intelligent
and technically minded music producer that has ever made drum &
bass. The guy can program C++. He is a key feedback provider for Native
Instrument's Reaktor software. In this interview, we get inside Exile's
brain, and prize out some interesting techie philosophy.
