Allenby’s ....Jerusalem.... Campaign andOur Fight for Christ.
Turn to ISAIAH 31 ....
The titleof my talk tonight is Allenby’s Jerusalem Campaign and our fight for Christ.For those who have been in the Assembly for a while now would be familiar withthe prophecies about the full of ....Jerusalem....from the Turks to the Allied forces.....
Tonight Ipresent some thoughts that we don’t always get to hear when we talk about ‘AsBirds Flying’ and how it impacts upon our fight for Christ.....
Some BasicDetails first. During world war I, the then British Pri-Minster Lloyd Georgerequested that Sir General Allenby take the control of ..Jerusalem..from the ..Ottoman Empire... Using AeroplanesAllenby achieved this and fulfilled a 2,600 year old prophecy. We pick up thisProphecy in Isaiah 31:4....
Isaiah 31:4For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lionroaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him,[he] will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise ofthem: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for thehill there of.....
W.G.MacKendrick in his book ‘The Destiny of the British Empire and the ....USA....’, [CovenantPublishing 1929] writes:....
‘Like as alion, the old British lion and the young Lions which came from Australia, NewZealan..., to help the old lion redeem Jerusalem, were not afraid of themultitudes Sheppard’s or generals opposed to them; but like lions all, they wentfor the Turks and there Hun masters, and they certainly put the fear of Godinto their hearts after there first encounters.’....
The messagefor us is that we should be as the Lions and have no fear; we should not beafraid Isaiah 35:4 tells us to:....
‘Be strong,fear not: behold, your God will come [with] vengeance, [even] God [with] arecompence; he will come and save you’....
When youare being fired for preaching the Gospel, just remember that the LordsReturning any minute, he might just come during the appointment with the boss,and if Jesus does not return and you do get fired, it simply means that God gotno more use for you at that work place, but there are people to talked to atthe next.....
Isaiah 31:4So shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for ....mount.. ..Zion....,and for the hill thereof.....
And indeedthe Lord of hosts did come down and fight for ....Jerusalem...., it was his doing, and all of itwas fulfilled. The same sprit that moved upon the waters back there in Geneseswas moving in ....Jerusalem.....However quite curiously there is another interpretation of this. Trevor Nevitt,....Col.....,U.S. Army, Ret., and Grace Person Hayes in there book ‘The Campaigns on theTurkish Fronts’:....
‘Theconquest fulfilled two old Muslim prophecies. The first of these foretold thatthe Turks would hold ....Jerusalem....until they were expelled by an ‘Angel of the Lord,’ which can translated intoArabic as ‘Allah-ed-Nebbi.’ This, as it happened, was also the way that theArabs Pronounced General Allenby’s name.’....
The Lord ofHosts was there allright, and just for good measure, he sent a man named ‘Angelof the Lord’ to remind us that it is Gods doing.....
Isaiah 31:5As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend ....Jerusalem....; defending also he will deliver[it; and] passing over he will preserve it.....
Turn to ISAIAH 54....
Raymond Savage in his book ‘Allenby of Armageddon’writes;....
‘When General Allenby arrived, the enemy had commandof the Air. There was one Australian and one Royal Flying corps squadron, bothhandicapped by old-type machines vastly inferior to those of the German flightAbteilung 300, which had brought down seventeen machines along the cost anddesert. Reconnaissance, bombing, and photography continued under the conditionsof severe difficulty, but the arrival of the Fighters literally drove the Enemyfrom the Air.’....
Isaiah54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue[that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This [is] theheritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness [is] of me, saiththe LORD.....
The British Monarchy are Decedents of King David, KingDavid was a servant of the Lord. So when King George sent Allenby to take ....Jerusalem...., fulfillingthis prophecy we should fully expect that no weapon or German plane shallprosper.....
And when we are doing the Lords Workpreaching the Gospel, we should also expect that no weapon or Barking Dog atthe door shall triumph. We have been told to Go, Stand and Speak. That is ourheritage. Let’s let God deal with the obstacles.....
In regards to these arrival of these new airplanesRichard Williams, Commander of the Australian air Squadron, recalled that:....
‘Now for the first time, after seventeen months in thefield, we had aircraft with which we could deal with our enemy in the Air’ [From:The Royal Air force Air Power review 5(4) Winter 2002]....
Just as the deliverance of ....Jerusalem.... of is divinely inspired by God, Soshould we expect that all the details should be inspired? The Number seventeenhas come up twice: The seventeen machines that the Germans had brought down andthe 17 months that the allies had to wait to receive the planes to overcome theGermans.....
All numbershave significants. The number seventeen is the number of peace and safety. Forinstance it was the seventeenth day of the month when it stated to flood andNoah was safe in the Arc. And the ark rested safely in the seventh month, onthe seventeenth day of the month.....
Joseph, thefarther of Ephraim and Manasseh, who have become ..England..and ....America....respectively, was seventeen years old when he was sold into slavery. Josepheventfully ended up being a ruler in ....Egypt..... And we read in Geneses 45:7, thewords of Joseph when he was reunited with his 11 brothers and farther. ‘And Godsent me before you to preserve you posterity in the earth, and to save yourlives by a great deliverance.’ To top it of Jacob spent 17 years living in ....Egypt.........
As most would know, the Children of Israel moved into ....Egypt.... becauseof the famine, there they Multiplied and were put into slavery. After some timeas a slave they escaped from ....Egypt.....The Canadian Army Major W.G MacKendrick made this observation, in a speech Before the Empire Clubof Canada, ....Toronto....,October 26, 1922. Please note his reference to the Bull.....
‘There are no vowels in Hebrew, and the word Isaac inHebrew is "..Saar..." When the Hebrewpeople, our forefathers, started on their long pilgrimage they calledthemselves Saac-sons, Today we have it "Sax" instead of"Saac," but we are the same people. "Angle" in Hebrew is"Bull" and when our forefathers marched out of Egypt they marchedunder a banner with a bull's head on it; Those people, when they marched acrossthe continent, still were called the "Angles," and they continued itwhen they went into Britain.’....
Amazingly General Allenby was nicknamed theBull. Dr. John Mordike in his article‘General Sir Edmund Allenby’s Joint operations in ....Palestine...., 1917-1918’ records that....
‘The new commander was not without hisfaults. Allenby was given to outburst of rage which could only be destructivein personal relationships – Behind his back his troops referred to him as theBull, a nickname acquired during the grim dark days on the eastern front.’ [From:The Royal Air force Air Power review 5(4) Winter 2002]....
It is incredible that the Ball was to delivera group of people who used to walk under the banner of a Ball.....
Another example of 17, being the number ofpeace of safety in the History of the Jews was when ..Babylon..was about to invade the ....land.. of ..Judah..... Jeremiah theprophet was told by God to purchase a peace of land, the cost of this peace ofland was 17 pieces of silver. This was to be a sign that the Jews would returnto there land in peace and safety and that no harm would come to them in themean time. The Jews offcourse did return to ..Jerusalem..,but because of there continued disobedience ..Jerusalem..was invaded by the Romans then various other world powers until they wereinvaded by the Turks and came under control of ..Ottoman Empire.., which brings us back to 1917 and as birds flying.....
A quote from ‘Allenby’s final Triumph’ byW.T. Massey, the official correspondent of the London Newspaper with theEgyptian Expeditionary forces:....
‘The Air Staff, Pilots, and observers,mechanics one and all in the force, gave of there best, and, though in the rushand tear of present-day battles the flying fighters will never ret satisfiedwith new records and achievements, the Palestine brigade of the Royal Air Forcecan relay upon military critics of all time Judging there efforts as a distinctstage in the advance of aviation.’....
Notice how W.T Massey wrote. ‘The AirStaff, Pilots, and observers, mechanics one and all.’ The Observers were justas important as the Pilots. In our church unless we have Observers in themeeting, people who are interested in hearing the word of God, we are not doingour Job. The lasts word of Jesus were: ‘Go ye out into all the World and preachthe Gospel to every creature’....
Once again quoting From W.T Massey, hisother well known book ‘How Jerusalem was won’:....
This following list of honours is, perhaps,the most eloquent testimony to the Airmen’s work in ....Palestine....:....

And we like theses service men have ourreward, When Paul the apostle was on his death bed, he wrote this to Timothy:....
‘For I am now ready to be offered, and thetime of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished mycourse, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown ofrighteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge. Shall give to me at thatday: and not to me only, but unto all them also, that love his appearing.’....
Turn to ISAIAH 28....
And know on to a legend. I call it a legendmainly because non of the Arthurs I have quoted here tonight, some of whom havewritten volumes of the subject, have never ever written about it or seem tohave any knowledge of.....
The legend goes that on the 8thof December the 14th Bomber sudation of the RAF dropped leaflets onthe surrounded city of ....Jerusalem....calling on the Turks to surrender or flea. This apparently causing the Turks toflea that night.....
Weather this is fantasy or not, I willleave unto you to decide, just like you can decide on the historical accuracyof all the other books I have I have quoted. There is only one book that I havealways been able to prove true, and it is the bible, the inspired word of God.....
Isaiah 28:11 For with stammering lips andanother tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This [is] therest [wherewith] ye may cause the weary to rest; and this [is] the refreshing.....
Turn to ISAIAH 61....
When I received the Holy Sprit I spoke intongues, just as I still do and it was with a stammering lips and anothertongue that I speak to God with. And the story of our salvation is what we needto tell people.....
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is]upon US; because the LORD hath anointed US to preach good tidings unto themeek; he hath sent US to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to thecaptives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound; To proclaimthe acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; tocomfort all that mourn.....
All the things that Jesus was sent here todo, he has sent us to do also, and this is our Fight for Christ.....
And all thepeople Said:....
