NAIIA Nomination for One Drum Video!!!
The One Drum legacy continues!!!!
Greetings friends, fans, awesome people-
One Drum, the video we made last year directed by Helen Haig-Brown and produced by Big Soul Productions, has been nominated for Best Music Video at the 2009 North American Indigenous Image Awards in Albuquerque, NM!!!! I think also I didn't mention that it was also nominated in the same category at the Fargo film festival....
Congrats all around, and let's cross our fingers!!!

I AM STILL HERE!!!
Hi Folks-
So sorry to those of you that have noticed that I have recently seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth. I have been very very busy writing for the new album. I spent a month in beautiful Banff at the Centre for the Arts doing a writing residency- it was AMAZING, and I highly recommend checking it out if you have the time and the need to focus on the creative process. While I was there, I met the writer David Chariandy, who is a wonderful soul and a talented writer- check out his book "Soucouyant", which has brought him wide acclaim.
I then spent 5 weeks in Yellowknife in the blistering cold, hanging out with the family and the boyfriend. I also played 5 shows at the local elementary schools encouraging healthy lifestyles. They were so cute and I loved their enthusiam singing along and asking great questions!!
Things to be excited about: next month, we'll be playing a much-anticipated show at the Snow Castle in Yellowknife- yes, a castle built out of snow on the lake. It's gonna be awesome, and the whole band will be traveling there for the show. We're bringing our fingerless gloves, never mind the heated stage!!
Also, the show at the Cultch has been moved to April 10/11 at the Wise Hall because of the slow progress of the renovations- I'm sad we won't be performing in the new space, but stoked to play at the Wise Hall. This will be our last show in Vancity for a while, so come out & celebrate with us. Cris Derksen will be opening for us.
