About me:

darth jujuu

Disregard the photos, this used to be my personal page.

I'm a producer. I grossly under-charge. Despite all the other local engineers that also say so, I really am the best in this price bracket. By far, the least expensive.

I can do anything from polished super tight commercial sounding metal, (see Caulfield) to raw disgusting punk, all natural with no editing/sample replacing (see Hayworth.) Or, whichever combination of the two approaches is more appropriate.

Here's some services I offer that I guarantee other cheap local guys will absolutely not do for your band:

PROPERLY mik'ed drums with good mics.
Your drums will have phase coherency, spread, and natural room ambience. Also, unlike your drummer, I can tune them (via DrumDial.)

Beat Detective, done properly.
Tighten up the drums withOUT sample replacing or making them sound fake. Virtually every commercial record you listen to from pop to country to brutal metal has had the drums BD'd.

Guitar DI editing.
Ever wonder how bands that are sloppy live sound mechanically tight in the studio? I can edit the raw DI signal of your guitar before it even hits the amp. If appropriate, I'll edit every time the pick hits the strings down to the grid. This will sound totally natural and transparent, as this process takes place BEFORE an amp is miked up.

Guitar re-amps
After the guitar/bass instrument DI's are edited, the signal is re-amped. Re-amping is a process where we take the dry edited instrument signal, and feed it back into a real amp which is mik'ed up properly. This is either done in house, or sent off to a specialist to maximize an insanely beefy commercial grade guitar tone. Don't like the first go at a tone? No problem, we can re-amp again with a different setup.

TRANSPARENT auto-tune
Yea, it's embarassing to admit to, but if you're a metal-core outfit that has a guitarist that wants to try to do those Haste the Day-ish choruses, chances are he isn't the next Sinatra. It's ok, no one will know. Or call you Kanye.

Advanced pre-production Composition
So wait, you actually know some musical theory?? Trying to be the next Dream Theater?? Maybe you're a wizzard with GuitarPro?? Let's map out the song via MIDI first and assemble it from there. Itt'l certainly be easier on the drummer, and on me when editing later. Organization r0olz.

None of the Above.
Maybe you're a band like Hayworth and want raw dirty natural everything and don't care if it sounds sloppy. Go nuts!

On to the details:

Equipment:
ProTools 8, Reaper
Digi002 Board, expanded via Presonus Digimax
M-Audio DMP3 (total of 14 simultaneous mic preamps)

Mics include:
1 x SM7b
3 x SM57
1 x Beta52a
2 x Matched pair M-Audio Pulsar II's
2 x AKG C1000s
1 x AKG Perception
1 x MXL v67
1 x MD421
DDrum Triggers
endless older/unused cheap mics laying around

The studio consists of a large semi-finished basement live room. There's a tuned birch 5-piece drumkit available to use, with all new heads, if your band has ghetto drums. The live room is connected to upstairs via a headphone amp and large cable snake.

What's recording at the Joojio like?
Your session fee includes a complimentary 30rack. Members that aren't doing anything and/or don't care to watch tracking (cough...vocalists) generally play guitar hero and play with the household cat. We have an entire house to ourselves, so our only time limit for tracking drums / live guitar is when Ilya needs to go to bed, or if Craig hasn't gotten out of bed yet. Shy vocalists can enjoy a private vocal booth (closet full of pillows and a tap light) and needn't worry about being stared at during takes.

Alright most importantly, how much do you cost?
Make me an offer. Shopping around for engineers? I'll do it for less than anyone. Just ASK! You'll probably be surprised.

What about you, Jooj? Tell us about yourself.

I was in Aminals on bass, and recorded us since day one, thus learning how to do it with passion and motivation. You can hear me progressively figuring out what i'm doing, going from the oldest material to latest, in Aminals and the dozens of other bands I recorded for free or practically nothing as I got my shit together. I never went to school, nor had any interest at all in doing so. suckit, fullsail. I am now 23, and myself and the studio are currently in Brighton, MA, just outside Boston. I'm also a real estate agent, and full-time alcoholic.
