Margaret Cho burst onto the scene in 1994 with "All American Girl," and has since become one of the most prolific and critically acclaimed comedians of our time. In 1999 her groundbreaking one-woman show, "I’m The One That I Want," chronicled her legendary struggles on the sitcom, and became a best selling book and a concert film that grossed more per print than any film in history. Her 2001 "Notorious C.H.O." tour culminated in a sold-out show at Carnegie Hall, and in 2004, the CD of her "Revolution" tour was nominated for a Grammy. In 2005, Cho’s "Assassin" tour was hailed as "Murderously Funny!" by the New York Times.

Margaret premiered a new stand up tour, "Beautiful," in Australia at The Sydney Theater in 2008. She was honored to be named Chief of the 30th annual Sydney Mardi Gras Parade while down under. After returning to the US, she embarked on a nationwide tour of "Beautiful," which was capped off with a show at Radio City Music Hall. "Beautiful," Margaret’s fifth concert film, premiered on Showtime in 2009 and is now available on DVD.

Margaret is currently starring in the new comedic drama series, "Drop Dead Diva," Sundays on on Lifetime. Television newcomer and stage actress Brooke Elliott stars as lawyer Jane Bingum, and Margaret plays her gal Friday, Terri.

This fall, Margaret will be hitting the road with a new stand-up tour, CHO DEPENDENT. Margaret is gearing up to release her album of comedy songs entitled CHO DEPENDENT, featuring collaborations with Jon Brion, Andrew Bird, Tegan & Sara, Ani DiFranco, Ben Lee, Grant Lee Phillips, Garrison Starr, Meghan Toohey, Tommy Chong, Fiona Apple, Patty Griffin, Rachael Yamagata and AC Newman.

The lyrics on CHO DEPENDENT, which tackle issues of sex, drugs, rock & roll (and lice), may be laugh-inducing, but Cho has made no compromises when it comes to the quality of the songwriting and production. With CHO DEPENDENT, Cho got a chance to hone her craft with some of the top names in the business. “Over the years of being an intense music geek, I got to meet a lot of my heroes and I tricked them all into writing songs with me,” explains Cho.

Margaret was the recipient of the Victory Fund’s 2008 Leadership Award and the first ever Best Comedy Performance Award at the 2007 Asian Excellence Awards. She also recently received the First Amendment Award from the ACLU, and the Intrepid Award from NOW. Throughout her career, she has been honored by GLAAD, American Women in Radio and Television, LLDEF, NGLTF, the AALDEF, and PFLAG for making a significant difference in promoting equal rights for all, regardless of race, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Margaret Cho is one of the most prolific and critically acclaimed comedians of our time. In the past five years shes launched four sold-out national tours, turning each into a concert film. In 1999 her groundbreaking one-woman show, "Im The One That I Want," was turned into a best selling book and a concert film that grossed more per print than any film in history. Her 2001 "Notorious C.H.O." tour culminated in a sold-out show at Carnegie Hall, and in 2004, the CD of her "Revolution" tour was nominated for a Grammy.

Last year Cho took her "Assassin" tour through the US, Canada and Australia. A revamp of her politically charged State of Emergency tour of the swing states of the 2004 Presidential election (hailed as Murderously Funny! by the New York Times), "Assassin" is her most political and topical work to date. Filmed at the Warner Theatre in Washington D.C., "Assassin" is currently airing on the gay and lesbian premium channel here! TV. It is also now available on CD and on DVD (with 90 minutes of bonus material, including a belly dance short featuring Margaret and Princess Farhana).

In 2005, Cho also wrapped her first narrative feature, "Bam Bam and Celeste," which she has described as a fag and fag hag "Dumb and Dumber." "Bam Bam and Celeste," directed by Lorene Machado and written by and starring Cho, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in late 2005 and has since played at the AFI Fest and at Fusion, the Los Angeles LGBT People of Color Film Festival.

Margaret's second book, "I Have Chosen to Stay and Fight," is a collection of her essays on all subjects political and pop. A deft mix of Margaret's trademark acerbic wit and artful wordplay, "I Have Chosen to Stay and Fight" has been praised as "Raw. Blunt. Passionate. Empathetic, yet no-holds-barred," by the Star-Telegram. Look for it in paperback this October, from Riverhead Books.

Always incorporating activism in her comedy, Cho recently received the First Amendment Award from the ACLU of Southern California. She has also been honored by the National Organization for Women (NOW), GLAAD, Lambda Legal, the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) and the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) for making a significant difference in promoting equal rights for all, regardless of race, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Margaret is not currently on tour, but will be putting on limited shows where she workshops new material in combination with greatest hits and fan favorites. Catch her in a city near you!
