Interests
General
Aside from stand-up comedy, I've also got an interest in radio - which might explain why I write comedy for radio along with my stand-up stuff. (Radio pays better than comedy, and you have to pay your bills somehow - do you know how much rubber chickens and whoopie cushions cost nowadays? It's outrageous!)Music
I'm one of the minorities in this world that actually likes Christian music. I'm also a fan of 80's rock and some stuff from the 70's. I used to be a huge fan of Journey. I still enjoy hearing .38-Special, Night Ranger, and I loved Huey Lewis and the News even before they made it big with their album SPORTS. I also really like the music of the late 50's and early 60's. My dad had reel-to-reel recordings of all of the music from AMERICAN GRAFFITI. Who can forget Wolfman Jack?Movies
Classics and the new stuff. In fact, I liked the original 1941 version of THE WOLFMAN as well as the new 2010 version. I was really impressed with IRON MAN. Liked BATMAN BEGINS, loved THE DARK KNIGHT - the other Batman movies were, well, batty. Michael Keaton was great in the first BATMAN, but after that they were horrid. Nice to see the edgy, dark, demonesque figure of Batman return. I love the BACK TO THE FUTURE trilogy as well. Loved THE GREEN MILE, THE LONGEST YARD (original version with Burt Reynolds - the Adam Sandler version leaves much to be desired), UNFORGIVEN, SILVERADO, REMO WILLIAMS, and ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ. Favorite movie of all time? Easy... IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE with Jimmy Stewart. "I bet it's a warrant for my arrest. Isn't that wonderful? I'm going to jail!"Television
Current favorites: CSI, NCIS, BURN NOTICE, CSI-NY, NCIS-LA. CSI-Miami is okay, but there's only so much David Caruso one can take. For a while I was into the TV show 24 - but only on DVD. You cannot watch that show only once a week without going totally nutso and wigging out wondering if so-n-so is finally going to get knocked off this week. So I rented a couple of seasons and watched the episodes back-to-back, non stop. Yes, I got sick from lack of sleep - but what an adrenaline rush! I've lost interest in LOST and couldn't care less if the writers find a way to answer all of the questions from that show (which I doubt they'll be able to). I was a fan of HOUSE for a while but once they had the revolving door of supporting actors I got bored with it. My favorite older TV shows however never get old even after I've watched them several times over: STARGATE SG-1 (the Richard Dean Anderson years) and WKRP IN CINCINNATI!Books
The Bible. Not much of a reader after that. Probably because I spend so much time reading articles and news items on the internet all day. I will say that I like the style of Michael Crichton. If you get the chance to read the Jurassic Park books or his novel "Sphere" - do it.Heroes
Not the super ones - but the everyday heros. Men who love their wives and treat them with respect while providing for their families. They are heroes. The men and women who fight for our country both here and abroad. They are heroes. Superman? Batman? Great guys... but nothing compared to the police officers and fire fighters who gave their lives on September 11th, 2001 to save the lives of others. THEY ARE HEROES.
