• Bio

Sydney band New Navy's highly anticipated debut EP 'Uluwatu' will be released on 10 inch vinyl in September through Future Classic followed by an online release in October..
Recorded at Freefall studios and mixed by Lost Valentino's man Jono Ma (Foals, Sherlocks Daughter, Teenages In Tokyo), 'Uluwatu' is a clear progression forward from their three-track demo released in 2010. A more melodic, percussive approach explores the freedom and possibilities of pushing their sound towards fresh influences, resulting in a warm and delicate EP with appropriate pop-sensibilities. Still definable as indie/rock/pop, New Navy have introduced unique and international sounds that create a journey across the four tracks. Frontman Ben McInerny balances the sparkly guitars with his smooth strong vocals, whilst delivering strong bass-lines to drive the indie grooves to great effect. From the 'whistle while you work' opening of 'Zimbabwe' to the summer grooves of 'Tapioca' to the dramatic crescendo of 'Oceans', the new EP comes together as a whole rather than an assembled few tracks, allowing start to finish listens and showcasing New Navy's songwriting ability and consistent style. Named after the location where the EP was conceived, 'Uluwatu' is a destination away from the drag of normal life, with all the highlights. The excitement of a getaway, long burning sunsets, beach parties, fleeting romances and the final feeling of departure is captured within Uluwatu. New Navy have come a long way since the release of their three-track demo last year, which saw them take out the JD set and share stages with the likes of Wolfmother, The Philly J's, Midnight Juggernaughts,Grafton Primary, The Holidays and The Scare... ..
TO CONTACT THE BAND DIRECTLY: info@newnavy.com.au FOR BOOKINGS AND MANAGEMENT CONTACT BYRON AT RATBAG MUSIC: .. byron@ratbagmusic.com.au
