  • Radio Station Online!

    Entry for January 8, 2007
    ..

    Okay folks, it's online!

The RupturedEarDrums Internet Radio Station is online!

    http://www.live365.com/stations/redirs

I went with live365 for one very basic reason, copywrite & royalty protection for the artists & bands. Live 365 covers all aspects pertaining to ascap, bmi, seasac & soundexchange royalties for artists and labels. Most of the places I reviewed left it up to the honor system to cover these rights for you. Another plus, is that if your music is already a marketable item and available for purchase, a buy key is placed next to it. Hence, you make money. There is the task of signing on and getting a profile and password for new members. They also have a VIP section for no commercials if you want to pay the fee. They have a listening base of about 4 million from their own reports. The more of you that drop in, the higher the statistics go and the more of the general public start to tune in. Traffic to the site is money in your pocket!

I am having to use a lot of major label and established artists to fill in the time gaps for a lack of the unsigned & indie label music. This is where you folks come in, I need your mp3's to build the playlists. I have leased enough space for about 3 hours of music and will get more if needed. This site and station depends on the assistance and help from the artists I am supporting. Once again, this is an expense for me, I DO NOT MAKE A DIME from this station! You get the exposure and sales royalties from every song placed on this station. All I and you need is your assistance in promoting and getting your fans and friends to start dropping in.

The bottom line is this. Both the website and the station were put there for the thousands of unsigned and indie artists needing exposure. Both of these palces are for your benefit, not mine. It will work only if you put as much work into it as I do. With all the friends I and you have on myspace, we could make this site a haven for those needing a little assistance. I cant promise contracts, but I can give you airtime and a place to be recognized for your work. Talent, courage & determination are qualities only you can provide. All I can do is provide you with an avenue to display them.

    Best Regards & Good Fortune!

  • To my friends!

    To the friends of RupturedEarDrums

First, I would like to thank all of the artists, record labels, instrument manufacturers, radio stations and supporting companies that accepted or added this site on. I think it is only fair to divulge the purpose and sole goal of this website and the forthcoming sister site to it on Yahoo.com in the near future.

The single and sole goal is to promote the thousands of unknown and up and coming artists around the globe as I can find them. Some are doing well in their own right and some are struggling to make a name for themselves. All they need is a helping hand as they have proven their dedication, courage and stamina to remain constant in their quest for a place in this industry. Lack of finances, industry contacts and perhaps just location, can be a hindrance. It should not ever be an obstacle so high that it would deprive the public at large of their talents.  This is where I hope to make even a miniscule difference to them all.

    First and foremost!

I am trying to build a radio station base from all the different categories of music, Christian, acoustic, rock, country, pop, experimental, hip hop, rap, etc., no type would be denied. My hope is to get a broad range of stations across the country and globe if possible that will accept promotional cd's from artists that I serve. Promotional material can come straight from the artists or by me, either way the goal is accomplished. If I can get them just one shot of air time in a region not yet been hit before and attract just one persons interest, then that is considered a worthwhile effort. More so would be to spark the interest of many whom would call and request more artist details which I will have provided the station.

    Secondary goal!

Distribute same promotional materials to independent and/or major labels that will accept the material by pre agreement for review by unsigned artists. This gives the label by chance to have a heads up on artists out here that might be of great interest. Artists they might otherwise never see by the normal channels of the industry.  The choice by the label to contact, inquire, provide constructive critique is of course, their own choice.

Instrument manufacturers signed on and by pre-agreement would receive promotional items as well. It goes without saying, that an artists and/or musician that plays well and use their product is a very note worthy item to any manufacturer. Artists and bands will be asked at some point in time to send me a list of what they play so I can keep this at hand when researching and promoting their music.

I am also building a base of established supporting companies and people that are willing to assist and take on new clients in the industry as well. I may be old, but I am at best persistent, when doing my research. I am looking for agencies and companies that will do the artists the most good in this stage of their career.

I have been asked why I do this and why for free? I have been met with skepticism and doubt along the line for that purpose alone. How many people reading this wished just one person had done something for you when you were struggling to get where you are now? How many hands were stretched out to you early on that did not have a tin collection cup in the other? Well, I have been there too my friends. I just thought it was about time somebody did something for someone else without a price tag attached to it, don't you?
