Safety Toy

Bio:

A Safety Toy is something often used in preschools or psychiatric wards; an instrument created to provide enjoyment without the inherent threats of normal toys like nerf guns or jump ropes. The verdict's still out on whether the band Safety Toy is living up to their name. With a penchant for loud music and riotous performances it's safe to say that what Safety Toy has to offer isn't anything Fisher Price can manufacture. Born in the winter of 2008, Safety Toy was created by classically trained vocalist Malia Nicole and metal drummer Mark Matas. Influenced by music with melodic guitar riffs, double kick pedals and a blend of soothing and dramatic vocals, the addition of lead guitarist Aaron Seide and rhythmic guitarist Huston Yi helped Safety Toy establish their distinct alternative hardcore sound. Safety Toy spent a majority of 2008 and 2009 writing and self-producing their debut EP. Recorded and mixed by drummer/Pro-tools certified engineer Mark Matas, the self-titled EP succeeds in presenting the edgy combination of dual guitars and the driving beats of both bass and drums, highlighted by no-fear lyrics that often take on today's turbulent current affairs. When not in the studio Safety Toy played shows at local bars, and quickly built a loyal fan base. They made the finals in a county wide battle of the bands, and performed at a music festival, headlined by Finch. They are now regularly playing larger venues such as The Glass House of Pomona and Chain Reaction. Planning to tour in the new year, Safety Toy is always looking for venues that don't mind a band that'll make the windows shake, and the crowd dance. Safety Toy is currently working on a full length album, set to be produced by Jeff Sahyoun (Letlive/Transit Studio/ Best Interest) and recorded in a fully equipped professional studio. They are determined to find a label where they can continue to drive hard and make great music for their fans.
