    Tawnah was born in St. Mary, Jamaica; his name is a Jamaican abbreviation for San-tana, a nickname from his childhood friends. He moved to Portmore, closer to the city of Kingston and attended Wolmer’s Boys School. It was while at Wolmer’s that he realized he had a lyrical gift and that he wanted to rap. Tawnah had his eyes firmly set on a career in medicine until he was seduced by the dancehall, a career that has today become Tawnah’s mission in life. Tawnah relocated from Jamaica to New York City and the years he spent in New York were flourishing ones for his music career. Tawnah never missed an opportunity to attend parties and dances and before long he was commanding the microphone to do his own set. Fans and music industry insiders were impressed with Tawnah’s ability to rock the crowds. His next stop was to the recording studios in New York where, with the help of Junior Demus and Nardo Ranks, he began recording his first singles and opening for prominent reggae artists. He also began a wave of live performances, covering New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Florida to name a few. Tawnah now resides between New York, Atlanta and Florida. The realities of being a father take him away from his music at times, but he is always within striking distance of a recording studio.
