    SelfDenied is just me for now. I love God, I love people, and God loves people. That's basicly what I'm all about. I've been writing music since I was about 16 or so, and I really think my songs are going to make a positive impact... The name Self Denied comes from the Bible verse Luke 9:23. ___Self Denied is part machine, part human. The brains of the operation is John Dennison(that's me). The Creator of all that is, formed me in my mother's womb in a way that I would be naturally gifted at mechanical and musical things. At about 7 years of age, my parents blessed me with an acoustic guitar. I would sit outside and write my own songs with it. The guitar was probably never in tune, but I didn't care. I just wanted to make a loud, new, heavy sound. It probably sounded like I was throwing a fit, but to me it was awesome. I came up with some pretty cool stuff(cool to the 7 year old version of me), but I always forgot how to play the stuff within a few minutes. I still have that problem. Thank God for recording devices! Eventually I decided it would be a good idea to brake the yardsale acoustic and try to make it into a boat. It never floated. ___ ___About 3 years later in 1997ish, my brother and I were camping(about 8 feet from the house) and he told me about Jesus and how He is the only way to go to heaven when you die and stuff. I knew inside that it was all true. That night we prayed and I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. That night, I knew that I was on my way to heaven. I also knew that the devil and any other force of evil was like an ant compared to God, and that I had nothing to worry about. I was definitely not perfect then or now. _______________________________________________________ ___My bro ended up getting an electric guitar and taught his self how to play it. Then he taught me how to play 'Sweet Dreams' on it. From there I taught myself with occasional help from him. I played his guitar when he wasn't playing it, and eventually I figure out that it sounds really cool if you tune down the strings to lower notes. I drove my bro crazy doing that. Sorry Josh. lol ____ ___In 2002ish my parents let me pick out a guitar for Christmas. I picked out my favorite guitar in the whole world, a B.C. Rich Warlock. I finally had my own guitar. I could tune all the weird ways I wanted and do whatever I want with it. That's why, now it's covered in ducktape, has a different name, has big giant strings on it, and it's tuned A,E,A,D,A,D(low to high).________________ ___In the summer 2003ish I went to a church camp. They had praise and worship like 2 times a day every day. That's when I got way more interested in God, cause I experienced His presence in ways I never had before, and He was really blessing me with Godly stuff. I also became way more interested in playing music and writing songs.__________________________________ ___In the summer of 2004 (I think), I bought something called 'MTV Music Generator' for Playstation 1 for $3. I got it home and starting making drum beats and stuff with it. After a while of getting used to it, I started using it to make songs that I could play the guitar with. The third song I ever made with it is my song S3.______________________________________________ ___Today, 2011, It is undeniably clear to me that the God of all that is, has called me to do music. He has blessed and trusted me with talent and creativity, and He is the one who is worthy of any and all the praise, glory and honor. It's pretty convenient that this is what He called me to do, cause it's what I love to do. I am constantly growing in skill, creativity, influence from the Holy Spirit, and passion for God and my calling. Besides making awesome music, the #1 most important thing about my music is that it gives me a stage to display the love of Jesus on.____ ___I encourage you to find out about Jesus. According to the Bible He is the only way to be saved(from Hell when you die), and I believe it with everything I am.
