Ben Sity: CHICAGO’S HOTTEST NEW MUSIC SENSATION Not long ago, rap group Ben-Sity decided to set the pace and race to the top of Chicago’s music scene, and with no visible or audible signs of short wind… Rush, Space, and Sino effortlessly surpassed fellow runners with their ‘07 mix tape debut “Long Time Coming”. But first, turn back the clock to the early 90s and find childhood friends Jonathan “Rush” Williams & Mario “Space” Johnson writing rhymes and freestyling in each other’s west-side apartment complex. Unavoidably years later, Rush and Space would began recording with Jamel “Sino” Moore, whom met Rush & Space through mutual neighborhood friend, now turned platinum producer Bryant “Xcel” Bell to inevitably make up the group known as Ben Sity. Fast forward to 2008…and find Ben-Sity slated to release their “anticipated” second mix tape, appropriately titled, “The High Five Club” due to the group’s manner of celebrating accomplishment’s, setting trends, and breaking local barriers by simply high-fiving each other or also called the Vince Vaughn after the energetic actor himself. “High Five Club” is a sonic opus of melodic hits which brings the listener into a world of smoke filled caddies on south inspired songs like, “Blow’n Heavy.” The mixtape then takes passengers on a journey looking for intoxicated female dancers on opened snared joints such as, “Grey Goose;” the first single for the project to get people up dancing. And while quite infectious, the Sity does balance out the party life serving the designated driver with laid back gems like, “Smooth” and questioning prospective haters with braggadocious word play on the bass thumping and up tempo jam “Could It Be”. Today, some of Ben-Sity’s most note-worthy accomplishments include being on the 2nd largest urban radio station, Power 92.3 mix show, and the 1 urban radio station, 107.5 WGCI hip-hop segments. The group continues to perform throughout the Chicago land area at such locations as Wet lounge, Reggie’s Rock Club, Tini Martini, and the House of Blues (opening for Snoop Dogg) as well as other major label artists. Ben-Sity and their associates continue and steadily work to accomplish their goals and dreams of taking over the rap game. They are devoted to fulfilling their aspirations of blowing up in the industry and with all of their recent recognition this dream will be soon realized. “The buzz on the streets is getting louder and the aim of Ben-Sity is to get the world in our palms with a mixture of lyrical elitism, visually inspiring creativity and sundry emcees and production. We intend on taking a route that no other independent artists have taken. Just turn your clocks fast forward to tomorrow and see….” says group member Sino. ...... -
