Initially, S.M.A. Portugal was created, to honour and promote all the musicians and bands, that was struggling to arise from the portuguese Alternative Metal and Rock scene, to afirm their Southern identity and way of seeing heavy music, influenced by such, as Western, U.S.A. Confederation, U.S.A. bands such as Pantera and Down, and essentially, by the return to the hardcore basics of Rock N Roll and Metal roots..... That distance of some clicks and writting here at Myspace, transform in an opportunity to make some real international alliances with American Mother "Southern Metal Alliance", through the greatest person of S.M.A President, D-Ray..... At this moment, Southern Metal Alliance - Portugal, is growing before the original and real Southern U.S.A. Lords eyes, while aquiring a "prospect status" to become a true member/affiliate of this magnificent Southern Alliance, such as Southern Metal Alliance - Canada. Seems, were the first european and even, other continent promoter at this moment, (besides american continent) so I guess, its a Honour and a Privilege to achive that fullfill..... So, whats our mission here at this little Atlantic ocean corner:.... To increase the number of portuguese members, thay may be personnal ones, or even band afilliations, it is up to you! .... DAWNRIDER was born in Lisbon, in the spring of 2004, formed originally by three Heavy Metal freaks..... Dawnrider frontman F.J. Dias and J. Barrelas teams up with H. Conim and quickly add the rhythm section made up of Samuel Rebelo on bass and Victor "Silver" on drums. All these members have contributed in the past in several underground bands from Portugal some with lesser importance, others with bigger impact. .... The next year they took the underground by storm when they made their first live appearance in July 2005, to promote their debut Split EP with Maryland's War Injun out on Blood and Iron Records (also based in Lisbon). Praises have been coming from such influent masters as John Garner (Sir Lord Baltimore), Dick Wagner (Frost, Ursa Major, Alice Cooper) and Clive Jones (Black Widow, Agony Bag). .... On June 2007, right before their debut album comes out, bassplayer Samuel quits the band and joins in Carlos "Sven" who was previously in The No-Counts and Brainwashed by Amalia. On April 2008 right before the start of the recording of the second album, Victor leaves the band and André (Theriomorphic, ex-Shadowsphere, etc.), an experienced drummer of the Death/Thrash scene, joins the band. A new journey takes place. Embracing a whole culture of 70s Psychedelic Hard Rock and old-school Doom Metal making it sound fresh and modern, Dawnrider is here to stay, bringing a positive message, brought by an imaginary freedom warrior riding unknown roads, battling against evil spirits and destroying oppressive human condition. .... First album "Alpha Chapter" was released 1st November 2007 by Raging Planet Records. The album was mastered by Portuguese sound engineer extraordinaire António Pinheiro da Silva (Madredeus, UHF, GNR, Setima Legião, Rui Veloso, Fausto, etc.) .... .. ........ .. .. .. .. .. .. ............ .. ...... .. .... (Eng) About DOLLAR LLAMA:.... A long long time ago…Some wannabe punk kids tried to create a masterpiece of their own. Year 2002, DOLLAR LLAMA was born. Obviously, the grungy style, the long hairs, the pose, the jumps on stage, weren't enough to succeed… Not at that time… The maturity, the feeling, the attitude, the creativity, the power(!) brought DL a new kind of perspective, very rare nowadays...This was our principle and our winning chance. Rock n' Roll is to be felt, not to be shown. And so this band took their believes to every single stage that they played… sometimes the music become secondary, when the spirit is present, when the audience feel and read what's in our mind. That's our key, our telepathic key to success, or something like that (lame!)… We are still alive, becoming stronger... And that's because our friends, family, and fans give us energy to go on, to keep fighting! .... DL.... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ............ .. .......... .. (Eng) About MARBLES:.... The MARBLES were born August 1995, in the city of Montijo, suburbs of Lisbon. At first, this project was thought to be a sequence of a before project called Mushroom Revolution. .... In 1996 the first demo was recorded and entitled "Sleepy Time". This demo expressed the pop side of the band. Still in 1996 a compilation of garage bands entitled "Teenagers From Outer Space", was put out and included a track from Marbles called "Quite The Same". 1997 was the time to go into the studio again to record a new demo entitled "Plenty". In 1999 the track "Face You With a Smile" was included in another compilation (Scanning) by 7Eleven, label from Azores. In 2000 the "Apollo 9" demo was recorded, and in 2004 Marbles recorded the demo entitled "Slow Desert Punk". In 2007 two of the old members left, and now the band has only 3 elements. They have recorded a pre-demo (untitled) as a CD/EP preparation to be released this year. .... In the last 12 years, Marbles have truly evolved, as it could be clearly noticed by the demos. Marbles sounds like a psychedelic stoner rock power tunes. .... .... .. .. .. .. .. .... ........ .. ...... .. .... (Eng) About MEN EATER:.... The super-group tag is thrown around much too often nowadays, but Men Eater definitely includes the cream of the crop of the current portuguese underground movement. The band shares musicians with well-known groups as For The Glory, Blacksunrise, Riding Panico and Mushin, but Its so much more than your average side-project it almost hurts. .... The idea of getting it together was born in a pretty casual way though in the back of a van, while driving back home from a festival in Spain. Sérgio (vocals), Miguel (guitars), Carlos (guitars) and Carlos BB (drums) were just bouncing ideas and, all of a sudden, it struck them as a bolt of lightning why the fuck dont we start a project together? It took shape in a day and became a reality on the next, more or less a year ago. No big plans to conquer the world or anything, just a shared love for good music and enough inspiration to start writing the first songs almost immediately As simple as that. After some months of work and with bass player João already on board, they decided to record the first five songs which were quickly self-released as an EP. The sound contained on «Men Eater» a vicious bomb of sludge/crust riffs mixed with stoner and ambient influences hit the scene like a musical tsunami, a huge wave capable of causing chaos and confusion amongst the fans and media. To draw comparisons is always unfair, specially for musicians as sincere as these, but just try to picture this A Kyuss/Mastodon hybrid, obsessed by Converge and Isis, doing Led Zeppelin and Motörhead covers on a sweaty rehearsal room. Hard, isnt it? Well, the image you get wont be too far from the truth or the energy the band conveys on a live setting. .... Gigging pretty regularly, the quintet played all over the country sharing stages with names so diverse as The Ocean or Madball and, by the time they started writing new songs, the buzz all around was already overwhelming. Unfortunately around the same time the band decided to split with Sérgio, but that didnt stop them either Fuelled by the excellent reactions they were getting, the four musicians with guitar player Miguel now also handling vocal duties faced the composition of new material with a newborn confidence. «HELLSTONE», the debut full-length record, is a perfect reflection of that. The album contains ten powerful songs, which were build on the foundation already set on the EP while also bringing a whole lot of different influences to the table. .... «HELLSTONE» was recorded at the infamous Blacksheep Studios by Makoto Yagiu (of If Lucy Fell fame), mixed at the Red Room Recording, Seattle, by Chris Common (These Arms Are Snakes / Mouth of the Architect / The Coma Recovery) and mastered by Ed Brooks (Isis). It all started when Miguel Azevedo began recording some riffs in is personal computer somewhere between 2002 and 2003. When he finished a couple of songs (with no vocals and a drum machine) he started to scout band members. .... After some experiences with a few drummers and lead singers the ultimate lineup was set in March 2005. - Pedro Lima(ex-Cold Sun)-Vocals, Alberto Cardoso (Salter)-Drums, Miguel Ramos (Insert Coin, Supernada)-Bass and Miguel Azevedo(Insert Coin)-Guitar. .... They immediately started to play around in the local clubs and started working on their fan base. In October 2005 they went to MB studios for the recording of their debut EP titled The Damage Done. This EP was self-produced and engineered by Mario Barreiros and Mario Pereira. .... They are at this time self-promoting their EP and playing around Portugal. With a little bit more than 2 years of gigging they already played in a couple of major Portuguese summer festivals and shared stages with bands such as Soulfy, Cradle of Filth, Moonspell, Ill Niño, Alabama Thunder Pussy, FireBird (Ex-Carcass, Napalm Death). .... In the spring of 2007 the band released the Video for the song "where are you now" and got nominated for the "new sound of Europe" award of the 2007 MTV Europe music awards! .... They strongly believe in the "Do It Yourself" working policy, and are managing all the needs that a band requires, from booking, promotion, to merchandising, etc. .... For years vulcanoes keep building up pressure, boiling heat in their interior, waiting for the right moment to explode and show nature’s strength to the world in rivers of lava. .... This seems to be Miss Lava’s case, a flaming bitch that took its time to blast its genuine dose of heavy rock n’roll disaster upon the earth. .... The result is a powerful rock n’roll disaster. From the freewheelin’ demon speedin’ heaviness of the opener “Sleeping with the angels” to the monstrous super slow piledriver “The line”, passing through the memorable stoner anthem “Stone Me” and the melodic shocker “Electrify”, Miss Lava is ready to burn, baby. .... The vulcano has erupted. Miss Lava has played more than 30 gigs around Portugal, astonishing different audiences with powerful performances, and is now releasing its debut recording in a collector’s edition (blood red vinyl with full power poster cover) through Raging Planet Records Portugal. (Eng) About WE ARE THE DAMNED: .... ..We Are The Damned’ was formed September 2007, in Lisbon, Portugal by Ricardo Correia (guitar) and Paulo Lafaia (drums). Two old friends that decided to create a project where they could embrace all their favorite bands and blend them into their own creative musical convictions. .... After hearing about this new band on the scene, Ragingplanet (the leading indie label in Portuguese extreme music) immediately signed the band. In October 2007 a problem was still haunting the band, no singer could be found to complete the line-up, but within a few days a real diamond was discovered, after a brief audition Sofia Loureiro was asked to come on board and to track vocals on the album and become permanent vocalist and lyricist. .... The bass lines were handled by guitarist Ricardo Correia and the band was ready to go into the studio for a twelve day recording session. Generator Music in Assafora, Portugal was the place the band chose to record in, and with the help of Danish veteran producer Palle Schultz in November 2007, ‘We Are The Damned’ give birth to their debut album entitled "The Shape Of Hell To Come", mixed and mastered at Tweetyhood Studio In Aarhus, Denmark by Palle Schultz. By January 2008 post recording of their debut album ‘We Are The Damned’ quickly prepared for their upcoming live shows, at this point bassist Ruben Vilas was brought in to fill up the position of live Bass duties (since replaced with Raul Vicente) after three months relentless rehearsing the band was ready to perform live. .... "The Shape Of Hell To Come" was released in March 2008. Since then ‘We Are The Damned’ have performed at a variety of shows in their native Portugal, earning many important support slots for bands such as Napalm Death, Suffocation, Cancer Bats, Arch Enemy and Marduk. ....
