BBQ 50% Off Sales and the real meaning of Memorial Day
Monday is Memorial Day.
As a disabled, pensioned Veteran, I ask you to take a moment and remember what this day of remembrance is all about.
What can you do? 1. Go to a military cemetery and say a prayer (for those of faith) or give a minute of silence in respect for their ultimate sacrifice of their life for your freedoms. 2. Live a life that embraces the sacrifice for those freedoms. Not in blind acceptance for that is totalitarianism; but is renew vigor for the tenets of a free and just society. 3. Go to a VFW or American Legion or Disabled American Veteran's hall and buy the boys a round. If you don't have the money to buy a round, greet the vets with a warm smile and a thank you. 4. Buy a poppy from a Disabled Vet table at your local supermarket. These are not government agencies. These are veterans remembering veterans. When the banners and parades have long gone, these men and women remember and support each other. 5. Display your American Flag proudly at your home and office. 6. Find a vet in you neighborhood and drop him a note, a cake or stop by and shake his hand.
