Bio
THIS IS THE OFFICIAL TAD MYSPACE SITE - - - - - TAD is not reforming or making a comeback or any of that crap. This is simply a bio page for people who have enjoyed the band over the years and for others who never had the chance to see or hear this band. TAD was formed when I had just quit playing drums for the band that I had moved to Seattle with from my home town of Boise Idaho in October of 1986 called H-HOUR. We were a really good band and were on a CZ records Compilation called ANOTHER PYRRHIC VICTORY released in early 1987. But that is another story. I had bought a drum machine and a Fender Jazzmaster guitar and started playing songs by myself and a drum machine. I had a Fender Champ amplifier that I played the guitar through an old Sun Beta Bass amplifier that I would put the drum machine through. I slowly taught myself how to play guitar and had many friends who were great guitarists gave me tips along the way. I quickly put together a few songs and in my mind I could hear the finished product. In June of 1987 I took my 1986 tax return refund of about $500.00 and bought time in a small 8 track studio (Reciprocal Studios) in Seattle’s Fremont/Ballard neighborhood with a friend named Jack Endino (Endino now the world renouned producer of a ton of great records including, http://www.endino.com/index.html ) I had put together 4 songs by myself and wanted to record the songs and hear it all put together. So, I went into the studio and recorded my drums and then laid down the guitar track and then the bass and then another guitar part and eventually the vocals. This became the first Sub Pop single entitled DAISY / RITUAL DEVICE. Another song TUNA CAR was later released on GOD’S BALLS in 1989 on Sub Pop records http://www.subpop.com/ Eventually I recruited some friends, Kurt Danielson- bass, Gary Thorstensen- guitar, and Steve Weide- drums and began to put together the second incarnation of the band. We released our first full length LP/CD in 1989 and Our friends from PUSSY GALORE http://www.grunnenrocks.nl/index.html?bands/p/pussygal.htm Asked us to go out on tour with them. Actually we were afforded the privilidge of opening for Pussy Galore’s coming back to the US tour from Japan and we were on the tour with them because they were using our equipment. Pussy Galore was very kind to us and we became friends and we shared the same stages and the same floors of people putting us up on that tour. We remained on tour in various places including the 3 full US tours, 2 full European tours, and 1 tour of Canada as well as smaller 2 week tours of the west coast of the US and a couple of east coast tours. We pretty much stayed out on tour on average for 6 to 9 months out of the year from 1989 to 1995. More to come…………. Last updated 4/24/05 _____________________________________________________________ 1.) Read our blogs before you ask us to be your friend. 2.) We WILL NOT accept you as a friend if: A- Your profile is set to private. - How do you expect anyone to accept you as a friend if you we can't tell if we would even want to get to know you? Come on, nobody is that fucking cool, special, unique, or different. Drop the attitude and join the rest of us. Besides, you really are different and special, just like the rest of us (note sarcastic tone here). Don't be a pretentious douche. B- You send a comment that says, "thanks for the add", without saying anything. In fact, if you send any comments, DO NOT SAY "thanks for the add"! We have stated this before but apparently some people just like to click the "add to friends" button. Some people like to see myspace as a ego or self-esteem vehicle for themselves. i.e. "look at how many friends I have, I must be cool". Drop the self important attitude and join the rest of us humans. Additionally, if you are lonely, get a pet. C- You have one of those brain-numbing self-shot in the mirror cell phone or digital camera pictures on your profile. Again, don't be a douche. We are beginning to think that we should rename myspace to sheepspace. D- If you talk shit or have a political agenda write your congressmen. We couldn't give two rat shits about what you think politically. Your political views are not important here. If you slam ANYONE you need to look at your self a little harder. -Site Administrator .. .. .. .. .. .. .. -
