  • Bio

The Birmingham based rock group is comprised of: Matthew Colley (vocals/piano), Andrew Fletcher (bass), Jim Holliday (drums) and Alex Wesley (guitar). They have toured extensively throughout the UK, playing alongside artists such as Eliza Doolittle, Robert Plant, Athlete, Guillemots, Cage The Elephant and Reverend and The Makers. Last year the group was invited exclusively by Oxfam to perform at Leeds Festival and this year the Canadian Music Week in Toronto, Canada. They have also recently completed a host of national UK tour dates with Eliza Doolittle. The Amateurs have taken the long road to success, playing hundreds of shows together, honing their talent, building a fan base and perfecting their songs; their latest offering, The Rebel, accompanied by a brand new action packed 'spy movie' music video, is the culmination of that work and looks set to establish the band in the mainstream. "Music with passion. It connects, it really does. I'm a huge fan. Very few bands stand out in a world of 'been done before' and 'you sound like a mixture of.' but The Amateurs do. Goosebumps is the word I use to encapsulate their music." Tim Shaw - Rock/Alternative Radio and TV Presenter "The Amateurs are easily one of the most talented bands that we've supported on Kerrang Radio's Unsigned Show over the past few years and the new EP is testament to that fact." Loz Guest, Kerrang! Radio

  • Sounds Like

Disco beats pulse like hazard lights in the rain. Edge-like guitar skitters across the sky. A distant and soulful vocal pines for home. The sound of standing on the hard shoulder of the motorway at 3am www.overplay.com "The Amateurs are easily one of the most talented bands that we've supported on Kerrang..... 'Homesick' is a song that just oozes commercial success and The Amateurs are surely now set to move it on to the next level." Loz Guest - Kerrang! Radio
