.. .. The Cottonwood Club formed in February 2005. Original members included Mark "Markos" Mortensen - guitar, Kevin Yost - guitar, Sandy Yost - bass. Brian Ercek joined the band in the fall of 2005 playing resophonic guitar. The Cottonwood Club formed to study, recreate and expand on the "Gypsy Jazz" stlye Roots in the great musical legacy and genius of Django Reinhardt, Stephan Grappelli and the Hot Club of France. In the resurgence of music led by masters Birelli Lagrene, Stochelo Rosenberg, Angelo Debarre, Romane, Tchavlo Schmidt, Jimmy Rosenberg to name just a few of the gypsy guitar masters. Currently the Cottonwood Club is performing as Mark Mortensen - guitar, Pascal Guimbard - guitar, Jeff Ingram - saxaphone & flute, Pat Carbone - bass. We are also graced with the stellar musicianship of Bill Pontarelli - clarinet, Duane Webster -bass, Byron Lipkins - bass, Elliot Reed -guitar, David Williams - guitar, Jonny Dlux - guitar, Wade Krauss - percussion. The Cottonwood Club has performed at the DjangoFestSouthWest, Longmont Jazz Festival, and Swallow Hill. The Cottonwood Club has played events for Children's Hospital Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, Arapahoe Library District, Borders Book Stores and relief efforts for Katrina victims and fund raiser's for schools and education here and abroad.
