Painted THN Drumhead Giveaway
During the recording sessions for our new album 'Memos' this past Spring, Ben Folds, Amanda Palmer, Damian Kulash (OK Go), and Neil Gaiman needed the studio for an interactive recording session and asked if they could swap dates with us. We were happy to oblige and likewise offered up our gear as it was already mic'd and ready to go.
The night before their session we finished up our basic tracking and asked Memos artist, Doug Gately, to swing by and paint Barry's drumhead to commemorate the milestone...which you can see to the right.
We're getting to release our new album in Sep and thought we'd offer up this memento to help get word out about the album and our first single, "Arkansas."
We wish you the best of luck and many thanks to Amanda, Ben, Damian, Neil and Mad Oak Studios. And a special thanks to Doug Gately for the art.
You can enter the contest here.

New Release Constellations 2.0

Boston, MA – June, 2011 – Boston's indie stalwarts known as The Hush Now will be re-releasing a complete remix of their 2009 sophomore effort, Constellations. This time, with Mad Oak Studios' Benny Grotto (Dresden Dolls, Ben Folds) manning the dials, the new version features a brand new single, "The Atheist". For more information, please visit: www.thehushnow.com.
Consisting of Noel Kelly (vocals/guitar), Adam Quane (lead guitar), Barry Marino (drums), and Pat MacDonald (bass), Constellations 2.0 is a powder-keg effort boasting soaring vocals over The Hush Now's unique melancholy AM Gold groove that pulses behind curtains of melodic guitar. The album also boasts a new dance remix of the U2/Cure-like thumper "Thorns" (Track 11). ....
....
Like The Hush Now's self-titled debut (Oct 2008), also produced by Mighty Lemon Drops alum David Newton, Constellations quickly climbed independent radio top 100 charts and drew comparisons to Guided By Voices, The Cure, and Kitchens of Distinction among others. Blog buzz and radio play by influential BBC 6 DJ Steve Lamacq and KROQ's Rodney Bingenheimer further fueled interest in the band.....
....
And after the success of last Fall's EP, Shiver Me Starships, a successful national tour, and powerful performances at CMJ 2009/2010 and SXSW 2009, The Hush Now are ready to keep the momentum going. During the re-release of Constellations, the band is already hard at work on their next full-length, Memos, set for Fall 2011 release.....

August and Everything...to Come
Hello Hushies. August has been a busy month for the band. A big thanks to those who came and supported the band at Ryan's Spaulding RSLBlog showcase at The Great Scott, the Deep Heaven Now Psych-Rock Festival in Somerville's Union Square,The Bangor Festival in Maine, and to those of you who caught Noelly's solo set at the Middle East Upstair's supported by Pirate Promotions. We met many great people over the last few weeks, and played lots of music, and ate some horrible chinese food in Maine.Other than a variety of shows, the band has been keeping their eyes on the future, preparing for the release and tour of the new EP Shiver Me Starships, September 28th, and the release of the forthcoming first single, "Vietnam Giraffe." Info will follow on the offical record release party, which will take place October 2nd at Mad Oak Studios. It WILL be an awesome night, so stay tuned as limited tickets will be available. In the meanwhile, we are shooting a video for the Vietnam Giraffe release and you are all invited to be involved. The shoot will take place around 8PM at The All Asia in Central Square right off Mass Ave. More offical info will be available shortly, but in the meantime, ready your favorite disco outfits and mark your calendars.
