  • The Vasco Era – Back from China Tour

They’ve conquered the Great Wall, gorged themselves on Peking Duck and made tracks through the Forbidden City, now The Vasco Era are back and itching to show you their cultural side on their Back From China tour.

After playing to crowds of over 6,000 at China’s longest-running rock music festival (Midi fest), sharing the bill with the likes of U.S. metal act Soulfly and Chinese premiere league rockers, Tang Dynasty, the local lads showcased their latest release – Lucille – in a more intimate setting, at D22 bar, Beijing, and Vox bar, Wuhan to rave reviews.

Having already toured their second album earlier this year as well as supporting the likes of Placebo, Powderfinger, Jet, Gyroscope and Alberta Cross on their tours, its no secret that The Vasco Era like to do it on the road, and with a limited run of shows stretching across November/December, now’s your chance to get your last fix of the boys for 2010.

  • Sid's 15 tips for Splendour attendants

    Current mood:cultured

    1. Go see the pixies they are pretty old but very good.

    2. I will play at your tent for forty bucks is you want. (ten bucks cheaper due to once in a lifetime Splendour special).

    3. Don't eat the brown acid.

    4. If you see Pete from the John Steel Singers (the red haired one) give him a cuddle.

    5. Bring a Vuvazela.

    6. If you want to dance like new, go and see Hot Chip and LCD soundsystem.

    7. If you want to dance like old soul, go see Dan Sultan.

    8. Don't throw dollar coins at Lisa Mitchell when she sings that coin laundry song, it is rude and she's only little.

    9. You should come help us make Richard Ashcroft sing 'Bitter Sweet Symphony'

    10. Don't get the stuck-at-the-tent-all-day-too-drunk-to-see-any-bands blues like I do at every festival. There is too much good stuff on.

    11. Last year you could get a free beer token if you brought back empty cans of beer. That is fifteen cans for one free beer, so bring a garbage bag.

    12. If you're looking for an entirely different sort of festival experience try Rainbow Serpent festival.

    13. Thirteen is an unlucky number so I won't give you a tip for this one. It will only turn out bad.

    14. If you're a drummer go and see Grizzly Bear.

    15. If I see you at the festival and say I love you it's nothing to do with alcohol or drugs, I will be serious.

  • The Vasco Era like to do it on the road...

    Current mood:amorous

We like to do it on the road...this year we kicked off with dates supporting UK'S PLACEBO, then our National Tour supporting our new album 'Lucille'...we continued our road trip touring with label mates GYROSCOPE last month...then hit the regional towns to meet new people and rock...next up are tour dates with New York City's ALBERTA CROSS (we are very excited about that) & CABINS in July...then sold out tour dates with POWDERFINDER & JET in Sept...October hopes to bring us to US, Canada, UK and Europe...lots of good beer, loud music, car games and sleepless nights...next up "why we like to do it on the road..."
