Steve ‘SMIGS’ Smith puts the ‘V’ in versatile. With a career spanning over a decade, Steve has progressed from hardcore, trance through to the downright filthier side of hard house, hard NRG and hardstyle. After attending Tidy Weekender 4, Steve decided it was time to enter a few competitions. One of his first was for Tidy Weekender 5 in which he was picked to be one of 3 to play a warm up set on Saturday. This was a big achievement for Steve due to the amount of people that entered. Following on from his success at Tidy Weekender 5, a close friend passed on a couple of demo disks to a local night called Detox. Steve was asked to play his first set at the next Detox alongside Tara Reynolds and has played almost every Detox ever since. Playing alongside djs such as Paul Glazby, Grady G, Anne Savage, Organ Doners, Andy Whitby, K90, Proteus, ED Real, Rob Tissera, John '00' Flemming, Vinyl Groover, Amber D, A.D.A.M (Lab4), Jon O'Bir, Kevin Energy, Phil York, DJ X (Lab4), Andy Farley, Rodi Style and has even played the last set after one of his hero's Yoji Biomehanika. Steve’s success rides on his versatility and his crowd interaction including props and masks. His preferred style is Hardhouse, Nrg and Hardstyle but in recent times he has played trance and tech trance which has generated some incredible feedback. Steve has gained a great following through his sets at Detox and his success continues to grow.
