hello, here's a little update regarding some upcoming shows - been making some good progress with the solo record and looking forward to trying out more new music in a live setting. the collaboration album with mark peters is as good as done (one or two more sessions i'd say) and has been provisionally scheduled for an early autumn release date - will post further details asap. also working on another song for kirsty hawkshaw's album. take care, u.

    1) GIGS
    thursday, march10: stage club, larissa/greece
    friday, march11: lithografio theater, patra/greece
    saturday, march12: block 33, thessaloniki/greece
    sunday, march13: tiki bar, athens/greece
    friday, april22: zdravo mildai, skopje/macedonia
saturday, april23: start the bus/bristol, uk (live and dj set afterwards)

    2) BEROSHIMA
...and now for something completely different: rejoined frank mueller's beroshima project - some of the first results have just been released on 12" as well as a download.

    3) HOME STEREO FAVOURITES

    *riya "seems like" (autonomic)
great chords, great lyrics - easily one of my favourite songs of last year...

    *luke slater "hectic bag" (gpr)
current favourite re-discovery: can't stop listening to slater's 7th plain releases - true classics...

    *rockwell "aria" (critical)
this decade's photek - unbelievably precise and inventive editing...

*commix "japanese electronics (instra:mental moog remix)" (metalheadz)
an anthem - merges everything that's worth remembering about contemporary electronic music into one track - detroit, london etc.

    *asc "phobos" (nonplus)
an irresistible groove paired with captivating athmospheres - the logical evolution of the 90s deep blue sound...

*lenzman ft riya "open page" (metalheadz)
elegiacally elegant: superbly crisp lenzman production...

blu mar ten "believe me" (blu mar ten)
gorgeous remix of an already wonderful track...

*redeyes ft deeizm "luv&haight (matrix remix)" (spearhead)
this is probably what it would've sounded like if rodgers and edwards would've recorded a dnb track - very soulful and a chorus to die for...

*consequence "a man and a woman" (exit)
delicious quadruple vinyl album on exit - excellent contributions from asc, instra:mental and d-bridge included...

    *bcee "generations" (spearhead)
unbelievably dense, almost claustrophobic despite a tastefully reduced arrangement - the killer bline deserves an extra mention...

*broken little sister "silence" (happy prince)
bit of gaze anyone? good song...

    *stray "frost" (med school music)
    *syncopix "smile" (sync:saphir)
gotta have the impression only few other "happening" genres at the moment reach the level of musicality that dnb seems to incorporate so effortlessly. two tracks that involve an -in this context- unusual usage of guitars - in fact, this is simply timeless good music rather than the "style over substance"-fodder we're being served so often.

  • 19/08/10 still alive...

hello, next week it'll be a year since the last message -
first of all i'd therefore like to apologize to everyone that i may have disappointed by providing such a drastic lack of updates.
to be honest the last two years haven't necessarily been the best - this is also one of the main reasons why i found myself in a situation where it seemed easier to work with other people than just on my own.
however, more recently i've made some good progress trying to get back on track - although i'm probably not gonna be able to stick to the idea of releasing a new album this year anymore it still shouldn't take that much longer from now - thanks for your patience!
i'll be testing some of the new material at the upcoming gigs (see below) - due to the nature of my ableton-based set up the live versions will differ quite strongly from the recorded ones though.

here's an overview on what else has been happening:

    01) MISSING DEADLINES
is a compilation of the (in my opinion) best remix work i've done over the last decade - it's recently been released on rocketgirl.

    02) KABOOM
is the name of gregg araki's new movie - he kindly offered mark peters (engineers) and myself the opportunity to provide some score music. it really surprised us how much we liked the results which is why we decided to record some additional music in order to turn this into a full album. the material is mainly instrumental and features me playing quite a bit of piano rather than just synths - something that i haven't done on a record before. 8 out of 10 songs have been recorded already - towards the end we'll also add a couple of surprise collaborations.

    03) ENGINEERS
after playing live with the band for a while i've now joined engineers as a full member - the new line up also features daniel land on bass as well as matthew linley on drums. some of the first recordings of this new set up will be featured on the upcoming album "in praise of more" - due via kscope in early october.
you can see us live at the old blue last in hoxton on september21.

    04) EXIT CALM
i've mixed and co-produced exit calm's debut album which has recently been released on the ac30 label.

    05) KIRSTY HAWKSHAW
only two or three songs are missing now until the completion of the joint record i've been working on with kirsty hawkshaw - in the meantime, a limited ep featuring 3 songs that will also appear on the album can be ordered through kirsty's website.

    06) JONAS MUNK AKA MANUAL
and i have recorded an album for pedigree cuts - a library publishing company specifically releasing music aimed at the film and tv market. at the moment there are no plans for a general public release - however, all songs can be previewed on the pedigree website.
parties interested in licensing this music should get in touch with pedigree.

    07) OTHER COLLABORATIONS
two songs i recorded with all in the golden afternoon and a shoreline dream respectively will feature on an upcoming rocketgirl compilation.

    08) OLDIES
hexaquart was my tech-house project in the late 90s/early 00s - false industries have released two tracks from those days that i recorded with paul davis aka junkie sartre (download only).

i have also created profiles for two other old projects:
    myspace.com/ethereal77dnb (atmospheric drum&bass) and
