Bio
Grammy Winning Percussionist * Artist * Bandleader * Instructor * It could be said, Yonrico Scott learned to walk and play drums at the same time. By age 7, he was playing professionally with several gospel groups in Detroit, Michigan. That, with Detroit’s thriving “Motown sound,” are among Yonrico’s earliest influences. Since 1995, Yonrico toured the world as a member of The Derek Trucks Band. In 2010 he collected the Grammy Award for their stunning CD "Already Free," Best Contemporary Blues album of the Year. Later in 2010 their live followup, "Road Songs" was released. Yonrico also collaborates & tours internationally with Earl Klugh’s acoustic band and appears on Earl’s latest Grammy nominated CD. Yonrico’s own The Yonrico Scott Band is closest to his heart, and includes other world-class musicians bringing the best in funk, soul and jazz. They are at work on a follow up to their release “Turning the Corner” now. Their shows are always popular for the absolute professionalism they bring and the many special guests who show up. Throughout his distinguished career, Yonrico has recorded and/or performed with a Who’s Who list of Rock and Roll, Jazz and Soul. Most recently, he’s collaborated with Other notable artists include Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Peabo Bryson, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Sammy Davis Jr., Chuck Berry, George Howard, Freddie Hubbard, Outkast, Joshua Redman, George Benson, Anita Baker, Tinsley Ellis, The Allman Brothers Band, Susan Tedeschi, Kansas, John Scofield, Col. Bruce Hampton, Gary Burton, Gregg Allman, John Denver, Ben E. King, The Supremes, Widespread Panic, Phil Lesh, The Lexington Philharmonic, and The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and many more. Broadway tour performances include The Wiz, 5 Guys Named Moe, and Dream Girls. Catch Yonrico live and you’ll see he still plays with all the youthful vigor and love for music as he did as a child growing up in Detroit… albeit coupled now with the commanding precision only a near half-century career can produce. Yonrico’s instruments of choice are: Pearl Drums, Everyone’s Drumming, LP Percussion, DW Drums, Zildjian cymbals and sticks. -

MySpace Clearance: Florida's source for the most live jazz & blues info is leaving MySpace
Hello MySpace Friend!
Jazz & Blues Florida is bailing out of MySpace and focusing on our own websites and our Facebook network and we invite you to come join us at either or both. We don't have a Facebook business page yet, as it seems it is better to fully develop a personal page first, then migrate to business page, so come over to www.Facebook.com/JazzBluesFlorida and send in a friend request. I can't explain it, but the page comes up under my name, Charlie Boyer, but it is really us. AND, if you really want to connect to Florida's jazz & blues scene come check out our main site at www.JazzBluesFlorida.com and if you like what you see, shoot me an email and let me know you want to sign up for our email list. You can opt for daily, weekly or monthly contact and change your mind at any time. I am sure you understand the value of these connections and that nowadays providing that connection is your contribution to what keeps us going, like the money you used to spend on newspapers. This is a one-time request and we hope you understand the seriousness of it, as we will be deleting your MySpace connection after we send this to you so we can keep track of making sure everyone received notice. See you on the other side, where the good music is happening! Please excuse us if you are already over there, we had to do this as auto as possible due to the high number of friends we have to process.

Just another fan. Love those buzz rolls that come out of nowhere, and the polyrhythms in your solos.
Hey Yonrico, you rock ... the drum solo was mind-bogaling ... Thanks man .... may God Bless AudioHipster
I love traveling. Because it can broaden my eyes.
